| Art and Design If you like it, is it Art? What is the difference between a good design, a bad design and bad taste? Does form follow function? If something works, does it matter what it looks like? |

KOR Water/The KOR One
I think this is the first thread I've made in this forum, so forgive me if doesn't fit in, although it is about design.
http://www.korwater.com/
KOR Water is a company that set out to make their idea of the ultimate, 'green' water bottle (the KOR One), something to replace nalgenes and other containers contaminated with bpa. It comes with a pretty ridiculous $30 price tag, but I keep a water bottle with me all the time and would really like to step up to something better than just a recycleable. My two favorite features are the latch top, and the mouth that while narrow, is still wide enough to take ice cubes.
So, does totse think it's a good idea or a stupid one? Will design and "sustainability" win out over thriftiness, or will the whole "KOR Water mission" explode in the hangar?

BPA free too.
Though 750 mL (25 oz) seems a little small too me...

I agree. Apparently the "KOR Two/Three" etc. will be in larger sizes.

With even larger pricetags too I imagine, I'm not sure I'd pay more than $30 for a water bottle of any sort...
In the end you can just buy a $1 gallon jug of water and refill it as much as you want. I understand they're making uncrushable super-bottles and all, but I'm not paying $50 for large bottle. ( :

For some reason the handle "KwinnieFuckingBogan" strikes me as the most appropriately Aussie name i can think of - i love it. Anyway, dont trade in your Nalgene just yet. Plastic bottles that are meant for recycling (like disposable plastic water jugs or bottles) are NOT meant for reuse, due to this concern. Heavy plastics, like your Nalgene or liner to your camelback thing are not supposed to be at risk. This is according to what i have read and heard over the years.
I'm no doctor, but i've done seen one on the teevee.
And yeah, heathen that i am i still drink fuckin tapwater too, besides the fancy bottled schmectum. Just wait til the govt cracks down and we're resorted to drinking the standing water in the toilets, because that's all that's left. Then the bottle wont matter so much i guess . . .

Re: KOR Water/The KOR One
BPA isn't used in PET or HDPE bottles, so that's not a concern. However, it would be correct to say that those bottles were not designed to be reused: reuse potential is probably NOT a major concern for those making disposable containers.
Personally, I stencil-spraypainted some volumetric marks on a 2L water bottle, and have been using that for a while.
