Default Why atheism provides the lol's

Just a quick post to explain why atheism is actually stupid, and requires as much faith, if not much more, to be an atheist.

All atheists posit what's called a universal negative. A universal negative requires absolute knowledge (omniscience) whereas a universal positive may not require that.

For instance, let's say I am in a building with 4 rooms, and I have only been in 1 room. In order to say that every room is empty, I would have to have knowledge of all 4 rooms. I would need to know the entirety of what I am claiming to know.

However, to state the opposite, that the building is not empty, I would at the very least only need to know about one room.

So, in essence, any time an atheist claims that there is absolutely no God, they are claiming absolute and full knowledge of the universe (omniscience). If they are not claiming absolute knowledge, than they are going off of faith, but in fact, since they could never EVER know for sure that universal negative, then they are requiring much more faith than a person who claims there is a God (because finding out if there is a God may not require absolute knowledge).

But hey, I don't need to say it, it was written quite a long time ago "the fool says in his heart 'There is no God'" (Psalm 14:1)

Exactly. Anyone who declares a conclusive argument on the universe, without knowledge of the entirety, is a fool. If we can all admit that we truly don't know, the world would be a better. Agnosticism and skepticism FTW.

All beliefs work on two separate planes - knowledge and support/evidence. Most atheists, I would presume, are weak atheists. They don't claim to "know there is no god." Rather, they view theism as having no merit or support and so see the evidential scale as pointing toward no god. Therefore, they do not claim absolute knowledge, only support for their position. In the same fashion, most theists also work on support, not a claim to absolute knowledge of a god. If they DO claim absolute knowledge, it is usually by personal experience, which is of no use in an intersubjective dialogue.

Your argument seems no more to the point than most people don't believe in the little green fairy that speaks to me from the dark side of the moon. They don't have absolute knowledge, yet they don't believe in such a being....and for good reason. They don't need blind faith to do so, just rationally using what evidence they currently have in their hands.

Kiko covered it quote nicely.

In other words, you're a moron who's essentially fallen into his own trap. You talk about the "need to know the entirety of what I am claiming to know" yet here you are making claims about atheism regarding just one of it's many definitions while being completely oblivious of it's other, more popular, definition.

Not to mention that your analogy is atrocious and ends up working against you. The theist has no proof that the building is not empty in the first place, so he's in the same boat as strong atheist when it comes to the presence (or absence rather) of proof. However, if we follow your logic, the strong atheist hasa much tougher burden of proof which means it's quite understandable that he hasn't fullfilled it yet. The theist, on the other hand, could prove the building is not empty just by finding a measly spec of dust. He hasn't. That's quite pathetic.

I've always called myself an atheist. But not the fact that I know there is no God,but due to the fact that I live without the influence of a god/God.

For example, an amoral person doesn't claim to know that there are no such thing as morals, but simply lives without their influence.

If that makes sense at all

The OP probably read this simple little argument on a Kirk Cameron website.

I personally love it when theists enter into the real world away from their cult with the "knowledge" their shepards have fed them. Always good for a chuckle.

Theists feel free to follow the OP up with some of these gems:

----
Atheism is a religion.
Evolution is just a theory.
The creation IS the evidence!
The fossil record does not support evolution.
The universe is tuned just right for our existence.
A watch has a maker...
We had a big bang, we had to have a banger.
The prophecies in the bible have come true!
The cannon of my chosen faith is the historical evidence that my chosen faith is correct.
----

Tired of being a moron? Before you post some lame ass argument you heard at Sunday school.......google it.

Chances are you will find someone who has already ripped open the myriad of holes in the shit, so at the very least you will know what to expect.

Yay.
Get your food when you can troll.

I have to say I find it so refreshing to meet a person who is unashamed of their chosen label, in fact you seem to embrace being troll.

As a show of respect to you and your bravery I will now and forever refer to you as the Azure Troll, or some variatation.

This is not meant as an insult since you so willingly embrace your status as a humaniod living under a bridge (ie troll)

See you later Troll of Blue.

So we not only get to point out how stupid that theistic argument was but also expose you as a troll? Thanks!
