Sober & Looking to Pass-time
Ya so iv quit oxy after like 2 years of trying. YAY Clean for 3 months now, heh.
So ya i play games n try to read when i can but its stopped workin latly, so i ended up working out like mad. But now thats starting to get boring...
So whats a good pass time to keep my head off of stupid shit like oxy and cravings. I cant play games all day long and read till i pass out everynight, Id rather mix it up some how so what do most people here do to pass-time when sober n bored. Id sleep in the passed but im never tired any more...
any idea is welcome, except illigal ones, and keep in mind im under house arrest so its even more boring, and uncontrollable.

Re: Sober & Looking to Pass-time
Totse, fapping, music, just anything. Skateboarding is fun to do when you can't do drugs thats why I do it. But anyways that blows I'm in a similar situation (well minus the oxy its just pot) just gotta tough it out and don't get back on drugs.

Re: Sober & Looking to Pass-time
It really depends on what you have on hand.
If you've got alot of shit (IE metals, wood, electronics) in some place like your garage use the net and learn to make something.
What type of workout do you do? Mixing it up a bit with different types of cardio/muscle workouts may help..that's probably actually the best thing for you to do after kicking something like Oxy. It'll get your body back in shape and make you feel generally better.
Also, start paying attention to Politics/the news and get involved with Talk Radio programs like Bill O or Glenn Beck..you can call in and get into some interesting/heated debates.
Research something you know very little about. Expand your knowledge base.
Can you go outside? Try and get your hands on a telescope and do some star gazing. Few things are more amazing than what's going on out in the verse.
It really sucks that you have to deal with getting clean while stuck in the house, i'm sure that makes it ten times harder. Props dude.

Honestly man pick up a hobby that you really enjoy. Whether it be construction, guitar, music, pottery, etc..
Shit when my bud was on house arrest the dude would just go around breaking/unscrewing/explore the inner workings of shit just so he could put it back together. Helped him out alot actually
Anything to pass the time bro, and congrads for getting clean.

Re: Sober & Looking to Pass-time
Fap, work out, video games, read.
I know you said that you don't want to play video games or read all night, but the key is to mix it up; variety is the spice of life, you know.
Fapping, working out, and video video games all work so well as a substitute for drugs because they all help your brain produce that same chemical that all addictive drugs do (dopamine, of course). Although, if you've destroyed your brains reward systems through constant opiate abuse, well, you're kinda fucked.

I had house arrest once (only for 8 weeks, admittedly, but anyway), during that time, I did nothing but write. Random thoughts and ideas, fictional stories, that sort of thing. It wouldn't mean anything to anyone else, but I enjoyed doing it, and it passed the time. Doesn't matter if you're not much good at writing, I'm not, but I got some interesting stuff written down.

Re: Sober & Looking to Pass-time
haha great replies. well heres the thing i can leave only with my surity, So my dad. Other then that im stranded at home. Someone mentioned grab a telescope n check out the universe, Honestly IM FUCKING SCARED of whats out there it gives me chills. Iv seen crazy shit just laying in bed and just a week ago we were in niagra and saw a HUGE Bright light in in the sky at 2 in the morning and it looked like an eye kinda it was freaky my boy took a picture of it.
Ionno how u guys deal with sobriety so well?!? im so fucking bored all i can think of is drugs sometimes, Mind you i still blaze but rarly.
my work out pattern is nothing special just lifting weights, then sit ups, then push ups, then some karate excercise's and i just go all out on my dad or buddy with a kicking pad untill i basically drop. the first 2 weeks of being sober i gained over 10 pounds of muscle and lost 5 pounds in fat. Its pretty crazy how fast i can build my body up after quiting the oxies, That shit really fucks with u hard eh, eats away at ur muscles n shit so u got nothing left. I used to be a black belt in karate with a super kick, I cant kick for shit any more. All my muscles became like water after 4 years of constant use. BLAH such a dirty drug. Also i got sent to jail for it twice lol so i dont even want to think about illigal shit nor using cuz itll just get right back in there, Except this time i wont go to a provincial jail itll be a federal jail "The Pen" FUCK THAT. lol iv learnt my lesson ;).
Thanks for the encouragement it helps a great deal. I just it all works for the best if you know what i mean. Any other good ideas that i can go with and try? Because even mixing it up doesnt do it for me really u know, Ill read a book for a bit get tired of it after 2 chapters go play some crysis, get bored and go eat n do that same thing over n over again.
Im not really to good at building shit im good with computers tho, Ill prob get into overclocking and what not see how far i can push my computer to its limit.
Also im going to rehab on the 19th for 21 days so its gonna be even more boring there but i hope AA/NA works well for me. When i come back imma get a job to keep my self busy during the days and save up a couple of grand n make my self a super computer or someshit.
once again thanks for the inquiries.

Re: Sober & Looking to Pass-time
Ahhh yes. Iv been out on bail 3 times already and they gave me legitamate employment, but this time to get out i told em i was addicted to oxys when i was really clean, so they never included a job under my conditions. Which is pretty homo. Id have to change it next court date which aint till nov 7 n even then my lawyer said he'll finish the case that day if i go through with everything like rehab and all this bullshit + councling. so im like w.e lets do it anything but jail.

Re: Sober & Looking to Pass-time
I'm a recovering meth addict recently released from a jail sentence with lots of shit to cope with even though I'm clean. I'm not on house arrest, but I'm getting locked up for a long time soon for shit I did when I was still smoking.
I pretty much got rid of all of the people I used to know, and now I'm on my own besides my family.
Nicotine is my best friend! :)
I dip tobacco all day at work, and at night I smoke cigarettes.
If I want to reward myself, or some shit like that.. Weekends, etc... I kick back with a nice cigar.

funny u say that, I actually started with freeplay online tournies @ pokerstars. I hope i win this one on sunday.
Im going to rehab on tuesday "Court Orders" and ionno if they got a PC there, They wont let u bring a laptop i dont think, even tho i dont got one anyways. They also wont allow you to wear shorts wtf is that about? Ionno if i can handle the idea of no PC for 3 weeks my comp is my best friend. I need games n shit to get me through it, But maybe itll give me more ideas and maybe itll teach me what to do when im bored instead of think about drugs.
is there anyone here whos quit for years now? Do you still get cravings or get really bored n start thinking about doing drugs still,? Or did you completly get out of it and continue with ur life forgetting about the past?
I pretty much do everything u guys say, I guess iv covered everything my self as it is. Lol fucking house arrest is boring, Hey i do go out sometimes *shhh* but its not the same being all paranoid n fuckin scared.

The old saying "Once a addict always an addict" is actually pretty true. The cravings won't ever completely go away, it all depends on your willpower to resist them. They will get farther and farther apart as time goes by until you rarely think about it anymore.
And I still say you should grab a telescope dude. Why be scared of what goes on out there? It's far more significant than anything that is happening on this cartoon planet we call earth. It would probably even give you some perspective on what life is actually about and help you out with sobriety...but it may also have the opposite effect. Theres nothing like peering into the cosmos while your toasted off your ass :).

So you're saying that if there was a person who was addicted to Coke for years and finally kicked the habit and THEN one day decided they were just going to do it once for old times sake that they wouldn't be at any more risk of relapsing than someone who just does it occasionally with no signs of addiction? Once again you fail. You know who came up with the term "Once an addict always an addict?" people with common sense and experience..that's who. Two things you totally lack.
Of course I wouldn't expect you to understand such things..you probably get sold Oregano and powdered sugar get placebo'd out of your gord on a regular basis..and in case your wondering, no, Cocaine isn't supposed to taste sweet.

Its tru, Once an addict always an addict, if you cant controll ur self now u wont be able to in 20 years. No difference from now and then if you got an addictive personality ull have no chance. Doing it one time will lead into 2, then 4 then on a daily and ull be back to saying Im quiting tmrw, Over and over agian.
When i hypothetically go out, i hypothetically go to my buddies and blaze. or chill with a few bitch's other then that NOTHING. straight up, i may take up gazing apon the stars as soon as i get out of rehab, Im gone on tuesday so when i come back 3 weeks later imma buy a telescope set it up on my roof blaze like crazy n watch the stars n hope for a crazy alien like last time. ill have my camera on hand this time ;)

Ok cool so you don't have to be completely sober while your kicking the Oxy..i'm sure that helps alot. Do they not give you piss tests in the mandatory rehab?
It's good you can smoke when you look at the stars as well. Just remember you'll get what you pay for so don't go for a dirt cheap Telescope. If you can spare it at least get one for around $100 or so. Once you start doing it (especially stoned) you'll be hooked. Then once you get a feel for it you'll be able to go on the interweb and find some cool shit to look at with your Telescope. That should pass the time for you pretty well and even give you a long term hobby in the process.

Well, I'm drug free, but looking at the sky through a telescope sounds quite interesting.
I don't want to blow a hundred bucks on a telescope to get it and only be able to look at a slightly magnified version of what I can see with my own eyes, I want to see some cool shit. Would a hundred dollar telescope let me do this?

Well, it really all depends on the telescope. I've had a few and the one that cost me around 400 way by far the best (of course) but I had one that was around 135 and it wasn't bad.
Instructions on Picking a Telescope (http://www.ehow.com/how_2227178_buy-right-telescope.html?ref=fuel&utm_source=yahoo&utm_medium=ssp&utm_campaign=yssp_art) --- This should help you choose what would be right for you.

Since he's under house arrest he probably won't do the former and he said he's getting burnt out on working out..but if OP can manage to get out of the house for a while mountain biking would def. be a good change of pace in the work out department.
what are you doing?

Re: Sober & Looking to Pass-time
Well, I'm drug free, but looking at the sky through a telescope sounds quite interesting.
I don't want to blow a hundred bucks on a telescope to get it and only be able to look at a slightly magnified version of what I can see with my own eyes, I want to see some cool shit. Would a hundred dollar telescope let me do this?
I have a telescope and I really like to check out the craters in the moon. We have a pretty nice telescope (I think) and it's pretty sweet just checking stuff out like everybody else said.

Re: Sober & Looking to Pass-time
I haven't read everything but i would be fucking pissed if i wasn't allowed to go outside and exercise like running or mountain biking (as suggested.) Nature should definitely keep your mind occupied and off drugs, plus if you get bored you can just find a new route/spot and mix things up.
Dont they put those ankle monitors on people and let them go out during the day, and it notifies the police if you go outside some boundaries.
