Look at the price of a car. $20,000 for an average car.
At a job making $7 an hour, 40 hours a week, it would take 4 years of spending little to no money just to afford an AVERAGE car. And probably around 8-10 years for a house. So say you start at 16, now your 30 years old and have a mediocre house and car. And you probably would want to have a kid or two along the way. So how would you afford a house, car, and kids on today's money? I just realized that I have nothing worth saving my money for, it would be 4 years just to get a car, and a lot of shit can happen in 4 years. I will be 20 then and hopefully have a better job. But I just made this thread, not 100% sure of my intentions. But I want to hear your story about how you got where you are now. What jobs did you have along the way, what job do you have now? Where are you living, what are you driving? Of course you only have to post what your comfortable posting, but I am curious to how it is possible to live an HONEST life and still be successful. That means not selling drugs or doing crimes, but just a paying job where you indirectly work for good ol' Uncle Sam.

you are correct to some extent about saving, at this point in your life saving the 7 dollars you earn an hour (probably not full time either as your 16) wont really bring you as much as spending it would. thats unless you have to buy your own car and pay for college and shit

if you think thats bad, I crunched my car in a parking lot, it's 15 years old and costs almost a grand just in body work. Thank God I didn't hit anybody. Just remember thats before all the insurance, gasoline, registration, maintenance, etc. for the "cheap" $20000 car.
