Turning a vase into a bong
Is it possible to do this? What kind of drill would be used?

Read on! You'll use these same techniques to drill glass, glass block, tile, stone, granite, wine bottles, sea glass and marble.
1. Use diamond bits to drill your glass, not carbide bits.
2. Use diamond hole saws to drill holes 1/4" and larger or to drill holes in thick glass like glass block or wine bottles.
3. Use plenty of lubrication/coolant to keep your drill tip cool and the hole clean.
4. Use less pressure! Let your drill bit drill at it's own pace.
5. Start diamond hole saws at 600-900 RPM.
6. Start diamond drill bits at 2500-5000 RPM.
If you use these 6 secrets, drilling glass and tile is quick and easy. The FAQs below should answer any other questions you might have

Ceramic is going to work better... that's why most tile cutting blades are made from ceramic...

Wow. I think it's been a long time since I've seen a "how do I drill glass/how do I make a bong" thread in DIY. DIY used to get one every couple days. Ah, the good old days...

I lol'd.
About five months ago I quit smoking the reefer, one week after buying a nice clear vase for the exact purpose of this thread. It's now an excellent change holder representative of the money I'm saving not spent on ganja.
:D :)
