| Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought. |

When you have the media fighting your fights for you, the politically best thing to do would be to stay out of it and go on vacation. The less he says, the less he gives his opponents material to use against him. Its pretty much what is going on with McCain. The more McCain talks, the more material he gives the media to use against him.

Re: we want clinton back thread
I think hes going to win. Everywhere I go liberal assholes keep asking me to register to vote for him, seriously I've had like 6 people come up to me in a span of 2 weeks.
Have you seen anything even reminiscent of that for John McCain? I haven't.
Not to mention the worst criticism I have seen for Obama is lack of political experience.

Re: we want clinton back thread
Well, I don' t know how you can claim that Clinton was much better on the whole flip-flopping thing, but I do think she would have put more states in play than Obama. She would have clinched Ohio and Michigan and would have been competitive, I think, in a few southern states. She could play the experience/ready card and she could appeal to blue-collar people.
Also, it is my opinion that voter registration, while not exactly a waste of time, kind of suspect. If you have to ask someone to register to vote, it's going to be hard to even get them to the polls, and there is nothing saying that they are going to vote for your guy.

the thing about hilary was that she turned just as many people off as she attracted to her while obama at least has the apperance of being able of bringing different groups together under one banner while hilary had her "clinton people" behind her & most everyone else (including a lot of liberals and democrats) against her. i think that the primary took a lot of the sheen off of the clinton mystique (especially old billy-boys presidency) & if they were theoretically turn around & suddenly counted michigan & florida or something to bring her back & hand her the nomination it would be a motherfucking disaster (aside from the fact that that isn't going to happen).
as far as the registering thing goes, a lot of obama's support is supposidly going to come from younger demographics, who normally don't vote at all, so they are going to pound ass trying to get every 18-30 year old registered because most of those will fall his way (supposidly) & if they don't then he definitely will lose.

Obama is being compared to JFK...Slightly more marketable and energetic than Kerry who came off as a boring stiff...
Not to mention that the Republican party has fucked up this country even more this time around

Well, you know, a president SHOULD have experience. Fucking christ, no one knew anything about Obama until he ran for president. No one knew he even existed at all. Seriously, Obama just looks like a dumbass.
