Deleting the text = the best shot possible. Canceling phone service does nothing, as then the cops can charge you with "Obstruction of Justice." Best bet is to deny everything. At this point, if they have the phone in their custody then there's nothing you can do then either think of a good cover story "Yeah, I lent my phone out to my friends all the time." or "I lost it for a bit, then found it." etc.
Not much would do much good, but it's better then nothing man. Just deny deny deny.

Phones get lost allot. Best way if you have the phone is dispose of the phone.

Re: I just got arrested
If it's your phone, which makes it private property they need a warrent to go through your texts.. Anything they find won't mean dick in court... Cops did the same thing to me, searched my house, found shit and almost got me pen time.. just deny everything and demand your phone back..

Re: I just got arrested
Don't fucking deny anything. Ever hear of your constitutional rights? Don't say one fucking word to the cops. Even if you tell them things that you think will help you as they will only twist your words and use them against you in court.
If your going to to say anything tell them your'e invoking your rights to not speak. They will harrass you at that point but keep your mouth shut.

You still have the phone? What are you worrying about then?
Delete all any incriminating calls/sms messages/pictures and snap up the sim card and dump it somewhere then get rid of the phone and say that you lost it.
It will do you no good just to delete the messages on your phone and hand it over to them as they can insert your sim card into software and recover your deleted texts and pictures etc.
Your only down side is that (this differs from carrier to carrier) they may possibly apply for a warrant to obtain records from your carrier, most of the time this may only include dialed and received call information but on the rare occasion, depending on the carrier, certain texts may be kept on file.

Re: I just got arrested
Want some help from a pre-law student?
Shut your mouth.
They need a warrant to go into your phone, and they WON'T get one.
A judge would be out of his/her fucking mind to get a warrant to check your phone if you got caught with a little bit of bud at school.
Just don't give them the phone and ask for an attorney.
