Better Living Through Chemistry Discussions of any and all sorts of mind-warping chemicals, pills, booze, mind machines, trippy stuff, current street prices, importing pharmaceuticals, smart drugs, nutrients, herbs, and altered states. Please try to keep your conversations "theoretical" in nature, since this is an open conference.

Default caffeine extraction

I've heard you can do this with ethanol or vinegar, but a google search turns up nothing useful.

Any methods that don't require non-household chemicals would be appreciated.

It's more of a "I'm bored as fuck" type situation.

That and I feel like brushing up on my chem lab skills.

I'm bored and on tons of speed and that still sounds like a waste of time. do you actually have any chem skills or equipment? if so make something useful thats relatively easy like mcat or some shit. when your done extracting caffeine your gonna be just as bored and have nothing to show for the time you spent.

Well, I do not know of any methods of extracting caffeine. But I know where you can get some.

You can scroll down to it, and on the way look at other fun powders and metals ;) . Or just press Ctrl + F and search caffeine.

BTW: "Note: adult signature required upon delivery."
Just to let you know beforehand.

You know, this could be potentially useful to someone who loves in Canada and has an unnaturally obsessive love for consuming high doses of unadulterated codeine....

excerpt from that chemical website link:

Gibberellic Acid
chemical formula: C19H22O6
( liquid )
This is an amazing material - great for science fairs.
Gibberellic Acid is a very potent plant growth hormone. Very tiny amounts have profound and surprising effects on plants. Lettuce for instance, which grows in a small ball on the ground, can grow into a 10 foot tall 'tree' when a small amount of Gibberellic Acid is applied to the seedling. Varying amounts do different things and different plants will produce different results. Very tiny amounts are used, and a little goes a long way. Now sold with a convenient spray bottle and concentrated liquid. Easily diluted to any strength desired.

hmmm.....:)

I read something before about extracting caffeine, and it looked like a pretty complicated process that requires non-household items. I'm pretty sure it said that in the final process you have to do some form of distillation or some shit like that. Sounds like an extreme waste of time, like someone else said, make something more useful.
