Job at Starbucks? Other easy place?
I'm looking for a job and have been for a while. I'm right in that age/experience range where fast-food don't want me because I have previous managerial experience and they know I won't last long before I quit, and then the jobs that I have the qualifications and experience for don't want me because I'm only 18. So I'm kinda stuck. Looking for decent jobs that I won't kill myself at within the first day or two, yet will be an easy job to get. This led me to Starbucks.
Anyone got advice on how exactly to land a job there? I am thinking basic cashier or barista position, but most times I get passed over because I am applying for a base-level job yet I have 2+ years of managerial work.
So yeah, anyone got any tips?

Why not just keep the managerial experience a secret? You don't have to tell them, and its not like they would find out.

If you're great at serving assholes with a smile plastered to your face, Starbucks is an excellent bet. Very often while standing in line there I have wanted to strangle the Mac-toting, square-glasses-framed, self-righteous prick in front of me as he orders his mint mocha chip frappucino served mocha affogato style without whipped cream.

You won't get a job there unless you know how to work a coffee machine. Which isn't hard, but getting the drinks right adds alot of pressure.

Re: Job at Starbucks? Other easy place?
Heh, yeah, the long-ass coffee orders would drive me insane, but the decent ho and the paycheck in general I need desperately at this point are enough to balance that out.
I did apply to the Apple store here in town yesterday and got an email back after the generic "Thank you for your interest." email, saying they will be contacting me for an interview later this week.
On a side note... only thing I drink at Starbucks is a Venti extra-hot extra-caramel upside-down caramel Macchiato. Yet I can't stand those "Mac-toting, square-glasses-framed, self-righteous prick" bastards.

Yeah, I've got a couple:
#1 - Depending upon the level of traffic the particular Starbucks you wish to procure employment with gets, it may prove a much more difficult job than you could have imagined. While I was waiting in line for a Sorbetto the other day, a kid came in and asked for an application. The harried assistant manager looked around her at all the customers, ran her arm across her brow and laughed as she asked incredulously, "Are you sure about that?" Just some food for thought.
#2 - Hollywood Video/Blockbuster = pretty easy work.
#3 - You should probably learn the fine art of tailoring your resume to the job you are applying for. While this requires you to change your resume for each new job, it will increase the odds of you actually landing one, since you will be telling your potential employers precisely what they want to hear and leaving out the shit they don't.
Good luck!

#1 I like a lot of work to do, I get bored easy, that's one reason why I'm looking towards Starbucks. (Also, 55 in Fresno/Clovis including kiosks and all that.... there were traffic stopping protests when they announced the closing of the 3 least busy locations)
#2 None are hiring right now, I went into them all.
#3 Heh, I hate typing now, don't worry, I know this.

Apply to the Hollywood Video/Blockbuster jobs online. You never know, and being in their database won't hurt anything.
You got to give if you're gonna get a little.
