The impact of setting with weed (bad trip sort of)
First off, I'm not looking for any advice, i just thought i would share this, and hopefully someone else will share as well.
I haven't smoked THAT much. I just usually do it on weekends, when i have any weed. Usually i do it with my GF, somewhere calm and safe, or with mature friends.
Well, last night, i had nothing to do and my younger brother invited me over to a friend of him's house to smoke a few joints. Having nothing better to do, after a little hesitation, i decided to go along. Bad decision it was.
We were 7 guys, and i was the oldest one. There was my bro, who is 15, along with some of his friends (who i know as well) who were that age or younger, only exception being the owner of the house who is 16 or 17 i believe, and another guy closer to my age, who is a more experiences smoker.
Anyways, we rolled the joints, and smoked. I swear to god after 20 minutes, that shit was out of control. They were a bunch of out of control kids, being utterly loud and immature.
The "trip" was going along fine, until the owner's dad came upstairs because of all the loud. I swear to go, he stood in the door, staring at us, for what seemed to me like 20 minutes. After that it all went downhill.
I was overwhelmed with the feelings of paranoia and remorse, feeling irresponsible for letting those kids smoke. Me and the experienced smoker guy were having a bad time, trying to control the other kids, but it was useless. They just kept on it, and that summed up for my high to be shit. I just threw up out of the nerves they were causing me, and finally got asleep.
It couldn't have been more obvious that we were high, so i guess the guy's dad realized. I just felt so bad my high was completely ruined. No need to say i'll never smoke with those guys again.
At least i learned some shit out of this. And i'll definitely be more responsible with this kind of situations in the future. But that setting made me feel so fucking bad, i just wanted the shit to be over so i could sleep.
That's pretty much it

To the OP:
Yeah, what you're talking about is very intellectual, which is awesome because we don't get enough smart posts in BLTC anymore, imho. I've noticed with my drug friends that they don't analyze how drugs affect them or others, mostly in it for the temporary fun. Abusers, not users. So, thanks for being aware of yourself, i guess.
Yeah, so smoking is upping the amount of dopamine in the synapses of your nervous system, especially your prefrontal cortex. In essence, weed transmits more more sensory data than normally. So, all sensory data in enhanced, which the signal can come in with more emphasis, or if too much, become distorted and misinterpreted: voila, basis of most psychedelic experiences. Anyway, I just realized you didn't ask a question. So, as an addendum, let's say, yes, set and setting is important, even on pot.

This is why I dont smoke, or support smoking for kids under 18. If they cant get cigs, they cant get green. Fin.

The fact that you are a careless asshole doesn't mean other people can't care for the well being of those around them.

ha that's reaaly gay...
But the point was that weed isnt really capable of causing a bad trip. Anything you thought was unpleasant high would be equally annoying sober. The only differnce is that when baked you notice/focus in on on things you normally wouldn't.
Even sober you would of had a horrible time

Re: The impact of setting with weed (bad trip sort of)
This is why you don't smoke with a bunch of little faggits.. As for leaving your brother, don't feel guilty about that, he is old enough to handle himself. I know what you mean though, like, I think it is possible for people to anchor bad feelings to marijuana, which is bad!! For example, lets say someone is smoking weed for the first time ever with there friends, if you are the type that worries about shit a lot, and gets paranoid weed will multiply those feelings!! The cops show up, or you get pulled over, your stoned, and scared shitless. And busted, parents are disappointed.. After the whole ordeal do you think this person would want to smoke weed again? Those scared feelings would come back.
Im sure some will consider my theory bullshit. :D
I don't like smoking with crowds of people, once the high kicks in it makes me feel excluded for some reason.
Be in a controlled and calm environment with like 1 or 2 close friends that aren't complete immature little douchebags.

Re: The impact of setting with weed (bad trip sort of)
Why do you guys care how these kids live their lives? They're only overreacting because you probably hyped them up about smoking weed.
In a way, you guys are being indifferent to the ideals forced upon us by Governmental Drug Enforcement, in that you are expressing desire to enforce the drug use of others.
