| Cellular Mods Your cell phone is really just a specialized computer with a wireless network connection. It has the software that your cellular provider has picked for you, but their software sucks. Why not replace what they give you with better software that has more features? |

your cell phone history
I know we had a thread about our current cell phone, but i wanted to know what kind of cell phones you had before your current one? I wanna see the crazy, wacky, simple phones everyone had back in the day.
http://www.mobiletracker.net/archives/images/large_front.jpg
This was my first phone ever I remember when i first got it as a gift for my birthday. The camera on this phone is way superior to the 2MP camera-phones out now, and this one was only 1MP. Had an SD card - the big kind, not the micro lulz. Battery life could've been better, though. 7/10
http://www.greenmobileman.com/images/Samsung%20x495.jpg
Then i kinda downgraded and got this phone. Nothing too special, but it was nice and small, had a few games, easy to use, etc Downsides: No cam, no music, no memory card. 6/10
http://img.engadget.com/common/images/3060000000051638.JPG?0.7146497126451365
This phone was amazing. It wasnt from t-mobile so i had to get it unlocked. Battery life was insanely long; charged it about once a week on some heavy texting and talking. Had an ok cam. Superb design and tough casing; i must've dropped it about 20 times, got it wet and it still kicked ass. Had a microSD slot + music player. 9/10
This is my current phone. In love with it [even though i secretly long for the moto ROKR E8 ] Great display, easy menu, music player, 1gb microSD card included, great cam, but doesnt top my first phone. Dedicated music control. As of now, 10/10
So yeah, you dont have to go into detail like i did, but i do wanna see what phone was in your pocket in the old days.

Re: your cell phone history
Sony Ericcson
- was on pay as you go with Bell. It was a great phone, was quite durable, but had the worst charger I've ever seen. I'll go back and look for a model number and picture, but it was an old blue bar phone, which was amongst the first generation to be able to send/receive SMS. It is a PCS phone.
Audiovox 8600
This was also a great phone, but the voice command feature was terrible. Not quite as good call quality, but it was good nonetheless. It was on the Bell network as well.
Nokia 6820
This was my favorite phone for the longest time, and would use another one in an instant. It is a candy bar style phone which flips out to show a QWERTY keyboard. It had amazing battery life, unmatched by any phone I've ever used. It regularly went 10+ days without being charged. It was on Rogers pay as you go at first, then again on contract. It was so nice I owned it twice (the second one came free with the contract, so I used the old one, being rough with phones it lasted about 2 years, and I simply swapped SIM cards when I wanted to use my new one).
Motorola RAZR (V3m)
This phone was a phone I used when my previous phone took a bath. It was a used phone, I didn't mind it, I found it to be a decent phone but the speaker blew - not sure if it just happened to me or if it was something the previous owner did. It was free, so I didn't mind, it at least lasted me 3 months on the Rogers Network.
Motorola KRZR
This was a really good phone, nice and small, but a bit too small. I like to actually know the phone is in my pocket. It had good call quality and had to be recharged every 3 days or so. It did what I needed, I hated the camera, but I rarely used it anyways. It was on the Fido network.
Watch Phone
I got a cheap Chinese watch from a friend that functioned as a cell phone. It had a touchscreen and I used a bluetooth headset to make calls. It was a decent phone to be fair, but was overly shitty for battery life as well as text messaging. Used on Fido.
Samsung i616
This is my current phone and on the Fido network. It is an amazing phone, syncs up to my calender automatically and downloads my e-mail. It has great call quality, and battery life that usually lasts 5 days between charging it. It has a QWERTY keyboard which I really like. It's on Fido as well.

Re: your cell phone history
Nokia 3310
Wasn't this everyone's first phone? Got this for my birthday - can't remember which - and it put up with a couple of years of use before finally losing a fight with the wet end of a toilet. Battery life was ok.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Nokia_3310.png
Nokia 3510i
OMG, colour screen! Awesomely solid, loud, reliable and nice buttons. A bit chunky though, and battery life wasn't the best. I had this one nicked while I was on holiday in Italy.
Sony K300i
I really liked this phone. Had an ok camera for the price, solid build quality and just felt...right. Menu system and interface was quick too, which worked well on its comparatively big screen. Unfortunately 1 month out of warranty, the joystick stopped working.

Sony J-something
Decided to get another Sony because I liked my previous one so much - this was a bit more expensive, and had a few more features. But...two months out of warranty, the joystick quit on me. Fuck buying shitty Sony phones, the joysticks are shit. Back to reliable old Nokia.
Bosch 718
Couldn't afford another phone at the time, so I bought this old thing at a junk sale for £2. It's freaking huge with buttons that need fingers of steel to press, and an extendable antenna! Built like a tank, so it survived countless drops over the few months I owned it...and the damn thing still works fine.

Nokia 6230i
My present phone. Bought this second-hand as the sheer size of the Bosch was pissing me off, and people gave me weird looks. Camera is perfect for what I use it for, the screen has a remarkably high resolution, battery lasts ages and spares are dirt cheap. Again, Nokia's legendary build quality has meant that it's still running strong despite numerous falls, spills and other accidents. I replaced the battery a month or so ago as the original one was tired out though.
I don't have a reason to replace the 6230i - I'll probably only do so in the unlikely event that it breaks.

Re: your cell phone history
I've had a lot more phones than this ones. I just can't remember them, since it's been a long ass time. This phones are from 2005(somewhere around there) to present.
First phone(That I remember): http://z.about.com/d/cellphones/1/0/O/V/motorola-razr-v3c-g.jpg
Pretty cool phone. I liked it, but I would end up breaking one every couple months. I've had about 4.
Second phone: http://z.about.com/d/cellphones/1/0/S/V/motorola-slvr-g.jpg
Was a slvr. The only reason why I got it was because of the iTunes thing. Sounded pretty cool. It was a great phone too, the thing was that I didn't know how to upgrade the version. I ended up leaving it ontop of my dad's car and forgetting about it, and 5 minutes later he drove off.
Third Phone: http://www.3g.co.uk/PR/August2006/Z400b.jpg
It was a samsung slider, but not exactly that one. It looked like it, but it was way older and bulkier. I loved it though. I was the first one to have that kind of phone.
Fourth Phone: http://www.latest-mobile.com/wp-content/uploads/images/articles/3/Pantech_Duo.jpg
I absolutely loved this phone. I have to say that this is my second favorite phone. I just loved how the texting was and the design. Pretty cool, this is one of my favorites.
Fifth Phone: http://www.acf-fr.org/i/07-08-02_iphone3.jpg
Love this phone. It's absolutely beautiful. It was so unique when it first came out. First touch screen phone. The only bad thing was that it was very limited. If you wanted to add 3rd party programs you would have to jailbreak it, and I absolutely have no idea how to do that.
Sixth Phone:
This is my number one phone ever. This is my sweetheart. I just love how it is. Faster than the original one and it looks a lot better. Now you can add as many programs as you want, with both versions. The only bad thing is that you can't record videos on the phone. I hated how it had the silver back. Scratches were noticable, but not with this one. Unless they are huge ones, but I wouldn't treat this phone like crap. This has to be the greatest personal phone ever. Love it, love it, LOVE IT.
