For those of you with jobs requiring degrees
Do employers look at your transcript from college? Like, I have a couple Fs on my transcript. My GPA is still fairly decent (about a 2.7, should be at a 3 after this coming semester), but I'm wondering if I'd need to worry about the Fs coming to haunt me.
Oh, and I'm not really talking about crazy competitive job either. I know some companies look for these fresh, top-of-the-line graduates, but I'm not really talking about that type of job...just normal, degree jobs. Teachers, professors, law enforcement, uh...and whatever else you can think of.

Re: For those of you with jobs requiring degrees
Well you haven't graduated yet so it doesn't really matter. It usually depends on the employer and whether they want to delve into your actual grades or just recognize that you have a degree, after all a degree is a degree, you if you graduated you're good.

Are you capable of making a post that isn't retarded?
EDIT: Sorry. That just pissed me off because it was such a general, common sense answer. Thanks for replying though.

Re: For those of you with jobs requiring degrees
I can't speak from experience but I'd hazard a guess and go with the consensus. A degree is a degree and for the most part, that should be enough. If there's more candidates with the same degree then they would probably be more likely to look at other experience you've had. Failing that then yeah, they may look at grades.

Re: For those of you with jobs requiring degrees
Do you want to go to graduate school or just get a job right out of college? For the job out of college grades shouldn't matter as long as you graduated, but for grad school that's a different story. Just wondering what school do you go to?
Edit: To be a teacher or a professor I'd say they don't look at your grades, just where you went. But fuck if I know...ask a professor.

I'm probably going to get a job, though I might want to get a Masters since I'm a Psych major.

Re: For those of you with jobs requiring degrees
I had to provide transcripts for my exams from both my Degree and Masters. However, if you get the interview and do well these are largely immaterial, they're just for bookkeeping.

Re: For those of you with jobs requiring degrees
When I worked as a senior network security architect, part of my job involved hiring and firing. So let me divulge:
Unless the job you're looking for is very specific, a degree simply says "I'm trainable." You're able to learn and able to be taught. Entry level positions such as field tech that require a 4 year degree are perfect for this; sometimes even the major of the degree meant little. Looking at transcripts is something I never did nor was it something I would ever do because I cannot imagine a situation that would warrant such action. Experience counts folds more than actual grades.

Re: For those of you with jobs requiring degrees
I've been on a number of interviews and talked to companies since finishing college and none of them have asked to see a transcript yet. Most of them don't even ask what my GPA was.
