Question PSP scam?

Ok this is probably retarded but hey, if its possible to do this than why not right?

I recently found a box for a Piano Black PSP-2000 (PSP Slim) lying on the side of a country road near my house. I immediately thought "what the fuck..." so I went over and picked it up. I'm not sure why there was a PSP box lying on the side of the road but I decided to take possible advantage of the situation. I tore off the serial number and barcode from the box and went home. Is it possible to somehow scam Sony into giving me a free PSP or goodies with the serial number? Is there anything I can do with this serial number? I already have an old PSP, but it would be cool to get a new Slim version for free if possible.

I know about the free Microsoft product scam that used to work a few years ago... I wonder if it is possible with Sony?

Feel free to flame, I don't care, it was just an idea...

You can always try sending them an email with the serial number and see how it goes. All they can do is say fuck off. Tell them you got it as a gift and you don't have a receipt and don't know where it was bought. Say you had it a little while and it quit working or the screen went out. I'd guess that it won't work, but you don't know till you try. It's definitely worth a shot.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

No

Sony will ask you to send it in. End of Story.

Yeah I was afraid of that. I'm sure we clever Totseans can figure out something useful to do with that serial number though...

Serial number is worthless. Unless you can magically make the PSP and the Reciept to reappear so you can walk in and return it.

Well I don't necessarily have to get a free PSP, can I get anything from registering a PSP I don't own with Sony? Any free goodies? The slip of cardboard I have has a barcode and "Serial # for Registration" on it. I assume this is the same number that is under the battery on the actual PSP unit.

The serial number is the one on the bottom of the psp on the silver lining, not underneath the battery.

And no, no significant goodies. Unless you want spam mail updates.
