I'm producing/directing a short 'psychological' murder film near the end of the month and I'm just working out the cinematography and storyboards now.

Now apart from blood and stabbings, there are a few scenes in which I'm not exactly sure how to pull off.

There is a disembowelment/guts pulled out scene, a thumb, hand and penis severing scene and a slit throat scene.

So far, I'm thinking of using a cotton and fake blood filled Halloween glove for the hand scene; and for the penis scene, just filming it from outside the bathroom stall. The only problem with the penis scene is the penis itself. I'm not exactly sure how to fabricate one.

I have no idea how I'm going to film the disembowelment, however I'll use various meats and blood soaked socks/nylons for tissue/intenstines.

And I'm still calculating how I'm going to mimic torn flesh for the slit throat shot.

Does anyone have any tips/experience creating gore effects in film?

PS. I've checked Google, I just want to pick up some tips and gather some opinions/testimonials on homebrew techniques.

bloody dildo for the penis? haha, a realistic looking one i mean, not one of them 10 inch purple ones you beat people with in vice city. check out a novelty store. or a sex shop.

dildo is the most realistic, bit if you dont want to waste money on buying lots of dildos to shoot scenes again and again, i would get a mold of a dildo (or get your own) and cast it in plaster of paris, then filling it with silicon, then paint it

Often the implied is more horrifing then the graphic. Show the effects of having your cock chopped off without actually showing a bloody dick.

The thing is, the psycho killer chops off some guy's dick in a McDonalds's; then contemplates eating said penis after putting it in between a hamburger bun.

If your amateur movie has so much gore in it, that probably means it's going to be a piece of shit.
