Itunes/Ipod problem
I was going to put this in the mac forum, but I am running windoze so I figured this is the appropriate forum (a mix of mac and windows)
I'm just wondering if there's anyway to put music into Itunes without having it screw up the order completely? A lot of my songs don't have tags/details or whatever since they were ripped from CDs long ago, but they are all organized by artist, then by album. When I put them onto my Ipod a lot of my songs are put into the "Unknown" artist section, and even more of them don't even show up! I feel like such an idiot for having difficulties using itunes for christs sake, but has anybody else had a similar problem?
On a related note, does anybody know of a program that will quickly add tags to entire folders, for example change the author tag of this entire folder to so and so, or change the album tag of this entire folder to so and so, etc? Thanks.

Re: Itunes/Ipod problem
Get rid of the shitty Ipod and Itunes and use a Archos/Zen/Cowon like a real man.
Problem solved.

Re: Itunes/Ipod problem
Agreed. Fuck iTunes - it's a fucking legal virus and a scourge and i hear of many people with these problems. Fuck their proprietary codecs and bullshit - who are they to dictate how i can or cant use the 1s and 0s residing on my computer? Did i overreact? I didnt, did i . . .

Eh, it was a really nice gift and it wouldn't be polite to pawn it off for another one. The Ipod isn't a bad mp3 player, I just wish it didn't force me to rebuy my entire music collection over again for no fucking reason.

Not to mention even with a zune/whatever your music would still be missing ID3 tags..can't blame the MP3 player for a user error.

Sell the gift and buy something you don't have to rebuy your entire music collection. Gifting someone an Ipod is like saying "Here, spend $3000 on this thing I got you"

Re: Itunes/Ipod problem
Well I figured out how to do it.... I just opened up audacity and made it transform my mp3 files into mp3 files all over again... this time with tags. There is a way to do it in windows as well, but it kept giving me an error message when I tried to change the tags for some reason.
Still, time is money, generally when I heard people complaining about ipods on the internet I figured it was because they were popular. Now I know better.

Mmhmm. I've never really liked them to be honest. I have an Archos 405 now and I think I may marry it.

Are you an idiot?
The fact that you were using an ipod doesn't make any difference whatsoever. If you were using any other handheld music player you'd have the same problem - simply because YOU fucked up by not adding ID3. The ipod is a great device, I've had one of the first nanos for...well since it came out. Its been stepped on, dropped, and thrown around and it still works perfectly, I've never had a problem with it.

Umm.... I didn't say anything about the durability of it. I love the battery life and the storage space, but I had an old generic MP3 that worked like a flash drive - you just put music in and it's ordered the way you want. That little piece of crap even had an FM radio on it! Winamp plays my ID3-less files just fine, but Itunes can't.
