you dont know that. no one knows that. who the fuck even knows what anti-depressants alone are doing up in your head..? i drink on effexor daily, no adverse reactions from alcohol but i think the venlafaxine itself is fucking with my head. i wouldn't recommend anti-depressants to most people. honestly, try diet & exercise before that shit.

Re: Alcohol and anti-depressants
I take Mirtazapine daily and when I drink on the weekends I have never seen any change in the drunkenness nor have I had any bad experience. I guessing it only applies in large amounts of both. Or mybe its a safety precaution. You know, I doubt doctors are even allowed to tell you its ok to get hammered at all. Let alone while taking medication of any kind.

Re: Alcohol and anti-depressants
if it's an SSRI, you're good to drink. I've drank and I'm on prozac. my friend was an alcoholic while they were on zoloft.

Re: Alcohol and anti-depressants
I've noticed that on fluoxetine, alcohol's effects seem to be nearly doubled. The anxiolytic/antidepressant effects from it also seem to disappear for two days after drinking.

Re: Alcohol and anti-depressants
yeah, it really varies from person to person. Some antidepressants make the effects of alcohol more prominent, others make you more sleepy... I know and entire group of people that get out of control emotional, giggle, cry, fight, get suicidal, all in 10 minutes, and then pass out. It's not even necessarily limited to the time they're drunk, a lot of the time it persists... but not everyone has the same reactions. It really matters what you're taking

Re: Alcohol and anti-depressants
My ex had a single shot and then took his normal anti-depressant (wellbutrin?), and completely flipped out. He started seeing shit, thought there were bugs under his skin that he had to cut out... a couple of people had to hold him back because he was flipping out so bad, and it was dangerous for just one person to try.
He isn't inexperienced with drugs either, legal and illegal. This is the only time he's ever flipped out. Watching him was enough to make sure I never fucking drink when I know I'm going to be taking an anti-depressant soon thereafter.

Re: Alcohol and anti-depressants
I've drank on prozac and wellbutrin, separate periods of time. I noticed no bad effects while on the wellbutrin. I actually got buzzed a little quicker, but I could still drink all night.
