So I fucked up my college shit for the fall , so now I need to get a full time job or something. Its pretty hard getting a job in NYC if you arent gay , black , or have a vagina. Affirmative actions sucks balls I guess , anyone got any tips for applying to places? My only experience is being a cashier at a travel agency but I would like to work in retail so I can get discounts and not do much and just go around talking to people and shit.

I know how you feel Lobo. The job situation is tight around here. I got fired recently by the new boss who was basically clearing out space. She fired me and a couple others and then immediately filled our positions with some of her buddies. Fucking bitch.

Anyway, I've been looking for a job for a couple weeks now. I've lowered my standards and still can't find work. Every time a job is posted somewhere, there are 20 people applying for it. I know I'll get one eventually, but goddamn it I'm broke now.


Try a temp agency, Lobo. They're not so bad these days. They used to suck, but they're ok now. I'll be hitting one up next week probably if I don't hear back from one place where I interviewed. Good luck, just keep trying.

Just start applying and following up. Most places won't even look at your app unless you follow up, to make sure that you are really serious about it. If they say they'll call and they don't, just bug them until they give you an answer. Even if it's a no, it's good to get something definitive.

man, there are always jobs. try temp agencies first (as was suggeste above) and if that doesnt pan out, get a job in fast food. food service has a HUUGE turnover rate. want a job in retail? suck it up, life aint fair.
