Default How did you actually change?

So you hear people say about how their perception on life has changed since they smoked weed, hit acid, ate shrooms...etc

If you are one of those people, what is it about you that changed? How were you before that is different than how you view life now?

With LSD, it's harder to explain. My perspective on life and the universe in general has changed quite a bit since tripping in a positive, more spiritual aspect. That shit shattered my fucking reality, intense shit.

I think everyone should try LSD at least once in their lives. It's a totally unique experience, there's nothing like it, and it's just a waste to not experience it in your whole life.

I used to take shit like school and sports really seriously before I started using. Now I realize that life does not end if you get a bad grade.

Also I felt bad about having no friends, but now I don't need friends cause I have drugs.
When I used to sit at home and just mess around on the computer, I felt like I was wasting my life, getting high leads me to falsely believe that I have experienced real life.

Rehab told me there was a world outside of drugs, but it's no fun so I resolved to use drugs and live in my delusional world.

"They all do pretty much the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real. You forget, because you're so busy going from A to Z, that there are... 24 letters in between"

That sums it up nicely for me. I've begun to appreciate EVERYTHING about life, even the smallest little things like pouring a glass of water, or even just going to sleep. Every little sound, every little feeling just makes my heart melt because of how wonderful it is just to FEEL. Pain is also meaningless to me now, I don't see it as negative, just a REALLY strong feeling. I'm so happy I have to ability and free will to just literally do what ever my body can do. I take sights in a lot more now, and I often realize JUST how fucked up society is in the way that it functions. I don't mean bullshit laws, I just mean how cold and distant people have grown towards each other. I've learned to live, instead of survive.

I've also learned that the body is just a vehicle in which our minds have manifested within. That mostly came from heavy DXM use though.

you don't find DXM to be a real psych? I fuckin' did. That shit was wild when i used to do it back as an immature highschool kid. I don't do it anymore though cause I don't want to push myself over the edge of sanity. Drugs have caught up with me. but I guess when i think 'psychedelic' i think of colours and image distortion.. which is much more intense on acid.

yeah. dxm = disassociative, probably the most psychedelic disassociative, but a disassociative nonetheless. acid and shrooms are much different.

I have, trust me. Just the other night I ate 6 hits of acid. For some reason, acid just doesn't have the same BANG and magic that the third plateau gives me. LSD visuals are awesome and great for the eyes, but DXM (only the higher two plateaus, the first two are bullshit) is more for the mind than LSD. It has a much more serious tone to it that feels like the apocalypse is near, and it just is much more intense and interesting than acid. When I think psychedelic, I think mind-fuck, not mind-tickle. Acid is great, but I'm a disassociative-man.

I got the feeling on a third plateau that I was being told "this is what you wanted motherfucker, ima show you everything and your not going to bitch". Unfortunatley because of the dissociative nature of DXM I didn't specifically gain much from that experience.

I've done thirds enough times to become comfortable with that feeling of the DXM saying "I AM IN CONTROL!!" and have made the point to be strong enough to think "No, I am in control" and just sit back and relax for a million years and journey to all these magnificent places.

I used to be a lot more needy, high-maintenance. Marijuana has changed that for me, and I smoked it a lot for about six months.

While I smoked and during the time I took a two month break, I realized:

Hey! No longer do I fell the need to constantly be reassured that my signficant other truly loves me, no longer play mindgames with myself "okay i called her yesterday, so today she has to initiate contact, etc." teenager bullshit.

Yeah, stupid shit like that. Also, I tend to take everything in perspective, see the big picture. Sure, it would be nice to study philosophy and whatnot, but once I get out of college I'm not gonna be philosophizing my way into a six figure income job. Study hard, get you're ass a diploma and work even hard IF you get into med school.

Etc. etc.

Meh.

I'm gonna go chill out with a juicy jay maple syrup and Isaac Asimov's "Second Foundation."

I've changed because of my perceptions and thoughts that I experienced while on drugs. For example, one thing I think about often while high is perception itself. We perceive weed, for example, as giving us a positive feeling when we ingest it, by smoking most often. But who's to say the plant growing right next to us that also changes our perception, say by making us puke our brains out and get a major headache, is not also a good plant? Puking and headaches are just seen as "bad" to us, for whatever reason. But pains and highs and heartbreaks; they're really all just different variations of the same thing. They all have use but they are all also equal, elementary and basic at their roots. Everything comes from the Earth at its root and we really should respect it. The end of the Earth won't be meaningless if we use it to advance ourselves even further to the point of surviving such a huge thing in our brains.

My whole life I intellectually believed that life had no meaning, but was unable to accept it, and was consistently depressed by the feeling that I hadn't figured out my purpose in life yet. Taking shrooms and experiencing ego death allowed my subconcious to come to terms with what I already knew--that life had no meaning--and made me realize that this is empowering and liberating, rather than restrictive. Mushrooms made me switch from being a pessimist to being an optimist, an incredible change for me. I have never been truly sad since doing mushrooms, because I no longer see the point; if life has no meaning, why NOT be happy all the time? Being sad doesn't do anything. I live with no regrets.

It is great.

ok stfu u fucking dork, DXM is ont a real psych that is true, because its not a psychadelic at all its a dissaccociative, but you have porbably never tried DXm nor know what a diccacociative is.

clearly you have either never tried psychadelics or are an uninformed idiot as psychadalic drug use often wakes people up to comon misconceptions like legal drugs dont get you high ( YEAH i know really stupid) and legal drugs are of infferior quality to illegal drugs.

if it was LSD just happened to have cough reducing capabilities and DXM didnt both drugs would be jsut as great but you would be dissing LSD instead because ur to follish to look outside the box

im not "dissing" DXM or saying that legal drugs cant get you high. i have tried both DXM and LSD, and i would say that at high doses DXM is a more intense experience than LSD. LIke as in your more "fucked up." on the other hand, LSD is much more enlightening than DXM. that is all. chill.

Good question. I'd say that over-all since I've started taking drugs (which has only been semi-recently, actually) I haven't changed significantly in the sense that I do anything differently now (besides spending my money on drugs, rather than on random shit); but I have changed dramatically in the way that I perceive a lot of things in my life (including life itself, really).

I think the most notable example of a changed perception is towards the substances themselves. For instance, before I started using drugs, I was fairly straight-edge. I drunk booze on occasion, but not really that much, and I had somewhat of an anti-drug mentality. Not in the sense that I condemned drugs/drug users; but in the sense that at the time I had made a decision not to use them, not for any moral reasons, or for any reason at all really. I'll admit that the only information I had pertaining to drugs was biased opinions from teachers at my school, who were only to happy to perpetuate bullshit rumors I now know to be completely false (I'm sure you've all heard your fair share of such myths). So, up until I was seventeen (which was this June); I never did any drugs, and nor did I have any intentions of doing them.

On my seventeenth birthday, however, a friend of mine who has always been into drugs, and who has always been a lot more open-minded than myself started talking to me on MSN. He suggested that now that I was seventeen, that I should try ecstasy with him. At first, I was reluctant, I tried to think of reasons why not to, and then I eventually determined there weren't any. You only live once, so why not?

We went down to the train station one evening later that week, and we each popped a pill. I didn't know what to expect, I was subconsciously expecting something bad to happen, but, it was incredible. I felt happy, full-of-life, better than I had ever felt. The reservations I had about myself, the obsessing over what people thought about me, just diminished. In its place was a mixture of happiness, clarity, and insight. I'd had a lot on my mind that previous week, I had to make some hard decisions. I was fretting over it, when I was tripping, the stress and anxiety ceased to exist, and I was able to make the decision more easily than I had ever anticipated.

When the trip ended, I felt like a person reborn. It sounds stupid, and hell it probably is in some ways, but I felt better about myself. This is what got me interested in drugs. One awesome trip enabled me to see how drugs can (and did) improve my life. I always used to associate drugs with low-lives and criminals. But now, I realize that there's a staggering amount of intellectual, insightful, and well-adjusted people who do them, there's obviously shitheads who do drugs, I'm not saying there isn't, but by-and-large everyone I know who do drugs are generally nice people. So, through drug-use my perceptions towards drugs, drug-users, and myself have changed for the better.

Since the first E trip, I've taken other psychoactives. I don't pretend to be an expert--as I undoubtedly have a lot to learn, and a lot to experience. So far I've taken ecstasy, shrooms, LSD, and DOI, and I've loved each and every one of them. I'd say MDMA is my favourite drug, all around, but I immensely enjoyed LSD (and still do for that matter). I love that 'head-feeling' you get where you're able to comprehend things you'd never even pondered before. The first few times I did LSD, I only got minor visual affects; but got a lot of that insight and clarity.

All-in-all, my perceptions have changed, and I have a better image of myself, but my life hasn't changed all that much. All it means is that now rather than eating, hanging out with friends, listening to music and playing Xbox sober, I do it whilst tripping.

Sorry for the length; I can't sleep and I have nothing else to do.

The way psychedelics change you can't really be communicated to other people. The human language just lacks the vocabulary to describe it. It's something you HAVE to experience for yourself in order to find out what it's like.

One thing I CAN compare it to is... Have you seen The Matrix? It's alot like taking the red pill. You wake up as your "real" self, and you realize that most of your life you've been led to believe things that weren't the truth. Your old life was simplistic, boring, safe and infantile, you've been shielded from the truth since you were born. The real world is alot more complex, hazardous (the stability of your reality is no longer guaranteed) but at least it's THE TRUTH, it has MEANING TO IT, something your old life never really could have had. Knowing this doesn't make you any happier persé, and your life definitely won't get more comfortable. but you realize your own part in everyone else's lives and you sortof get the urge to make something of your life, work towards something meaningful, and make the right choices and search happiness. That is your new quest now and it will take a lifetime to accomplish, but will be worth it all the way.

and now that you know all this, it's pretty much impossible to go back. It's not as dystopian and scary as the movie (although bad trips can be like that), but it's still very 'confronting' nonetheless. Life is (and always has been) a game you can LOSE, but now that you're aware of this fact, you will have the courage and incentive to make something of your life and WIN. And with all the beautiful things in this world such as friendship, nature, drugs, music, you know deep in yourself you can and will never lose hope.

Have you ever made new friends? I know how it is, sometimes you end up leading a double life...the fact is, if your old friends don't like the new you, to hell with them. And if they decide to screw you over because of the stigma around "hard" drugs, screw them in the asshole with a crow bar.

I feel much less significant in the grand scheme of things, having taken acid and mushrooms. I also feel more in tune with nature, and have begun believing some hokey shit I would have previously thought laughable.

Not to be demeaning in any way, but I guarantee if you're at school, university, or some place of education, that there's someone on campus who could hook you up, and then you can just read up on Erowid and BLTC for any questions you might have. You can also usually score in clubs and the like if that's your sort of scene; but I wouldn't recommend it. In my area, and from my experience, stuff I've bought from clubs has frequently been impure and expensive. Also, there's always the risk of bumping into an undercover.. not sure about other places, but there's a whole heap of cops in clubs trying to 'sell' around here. Crime in the area isn't that high, so they resort to busting teens trying to find a hook-up. :o

But, yeah, just ask around campus, or wherever. You'll find someone you trust eventually. Even your straight-edge friends might know people, a lot of mine did, they never did drugs but they always told me how X did Y on Z.

Hope you find some soon. :)

I can't describe the feelings i have when i trip, or after the trip. it's all consists of, "i dunno", "oh SHIT...oohh FUCK", "well.... uhh....umm". Words just don't seem good enough for me. It's like I have everything figured out in my head, how shit will fall into place, how I (and others) will react to it etc. But if you asked me to try to tell you, I couldn't.

If you come back here in three years and say the same thing and mean it, you will be my hero.
Why is that?

DXM (only the higher two plateaus, the first two are bullshit) is more for the mind than LSD. It has a much more serious tone to it that feels like the apocalypse is near.

DXM gives me that exact serious tone like humanity and society are so fucked up right now that the apocalypse is near and I get this horrible feeling. Acid on the other had gives you a more clear headed trip with a lot of enlightenment.

You do realize that new arrival/acolyte/regular status has NOTHING to do with how long someone has been a part of the totse community? Even before they reopened registration, lots of people had multiple accounts--and people could always gain access to accounts not registered to them. Quality of post is what matters, not time, or number of posts, or whatever... and in that field, your complete inability to use grammar, spelling, and punctuation, let alone CONTRIBUTE to a thread, puts you lower than most 'noobs.'

LOL, my poor little nooblet. How does it feel to keep getting owned by so-called "new arrivals and acolytes?" The only reason I added that "nice post, acolyte" was to get one of you mentally-challenged shit-eaters on here (ie. you) that think they're all badass & superior to other users just because they have the title "regular," under their name. In a way, I made YOU make that post. Congratulations motherfucker, you are a fucking tool.

You and TrainWrecked are prime examples of the many worthless users on BLTC who make shitty posts. By the way Trainwrecked, I just thought I should let you know (if you didn't know already) that you are a low-life, white trash, piece of shit. Do something with your fucking life. It is amazing how much you can tell about someone just from their posts.

well my phsycial condition certainly has deteriorated, i.e my lungs are shit, eye floaties etc

my experiences with drugs havent had too bad of an effect on my mental capacities although i feel drugs have made me think in a more open-minded, abstract way, as if theres a bigger picture. i think drugs have made me a more 'real' person and lifted the cloud of bullshit that people are normally preoccupied with. (although i lvoe pussy as much as the next dude)

well on wikipedia it says nothing relating marijuana use to floaters. marijuana lowers intraocular pressure, and i dont see how that leads to floaters.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floaters#Causes

read this section of wiki and at the bottom of the paragraphs it will say which specific symptoms vary with each cause. i have a few floaters caused by asteroid hyalosis.

either way, if i were you, i would just check with your doctor.
