My Dr. put me on Vyvanse for AD/HD but it gave me migraines and made me sick to my stomach. She put me on Concerta. Concerta stimulates me but all I do is get up and walk around looking at stuff in my house, it doesn't actually help me study. If I tell this to her, what are the chances she'll prescribe me something like Adderall?

I don't want to act shady because I've already mentioned that my concentration issue is "rapidly becoming an emergency" because of failing grades and pressure from parents. I don't want to push too hard, but I want to get my point across.

BTW: I'm 20 y/o female in Uni with a 2.5 gpa (failed 1 class).

The woman scripting me is a very young PA who works under a psychiatrist and psychiatric care is all she deals with...if that makes a difference.

Don't get Aderall.. or Dexedrine. actually forget that. get aderall. get off the concertas, don't get back on the Vyvanse. dont get dexedrine. if you get dexedrine you will decide to take a whole bunch at once. then you will enjoy things like arts & crafts and not sleeping very easily but not caring. actually just get some fuckin desoxyn so you can sell it on the streets and use the money to pay for "Omega 3, 6, 9" vitamins which will help you think clearly. Never take pills for ADHD, unles you're (ab)using them occasionally recreationally with a justifiable cause. I have ADD (no 'H') but my Mom wouldn't put me on that shit as a kid, and I'm fucking glad. All the kids I've known that took that shit as kids (and maybe not for everyone, and im not trying to be rude) turned out to be weird kind of losers. maybe it's just a coincidence in my area? i don't know.

I think if you tell her exactly what you posted, you've got a chance. If not, keep complaining about the side effects until you get Adderall.

Your fuckin lucky. My doctor put me on Strattera. I suppose after a few weeks I can tell him it makes me feel sick and drowsy and he might put me on Ritalin if I'm lucky. He never said anything about Adderall or anything like that you have it easy getting started on Vyvanse for fuck sake count your blessings.

Thats what I told my doc for a ritalin-->amp switch, but your side effect explanation might work but might also get the response of "This girl gets too wired from stimulants" (making her want to try a different nonstimulant approach with you). If you tell her tremors though she wont necessarily think its b/c youre too stimulated (esp. if you tell her you concentrated a little better), tremors are more common with methylpenidate containing drugs (Ritalin, Concerta) but people can get tremors form amps also. Dont ask for anything that is a controlled drug by name EVER b/c this is a huge red flag for drug seeking.

She probably wont give you strattera or something else that takes a while to start working, especially if you explain the seriousness of your situation at school. Emphasize the difficulty you have during quizzes and tests and essays (I assume its true if you find it hard to concentrate in normal classes).

You wont get Desoxyn but I think you already know that ("yeah methamphetamine helped me concentrate real well when I was younger...).

There's an amino acid supplement called tyrosine (L-tyrosine on the bottle) and it comes in 500 mg capsules. When I was having trouble with classes and tests in the past it helped me out a lot. Its a precursor in your brain to dopamine, which is one of the most important brain neurotransmitters related to concentration. Tyrosine also helps restore the dopamine thats drained away with stimulant use. Take 4 capsules per day, 2 twice a day in between meals to help absorbtion. Also, b/c its something your body has in it naturally it shouldnt cause any side effects, less than stimulants anyway.

Are you looking for amps for your concentration and for super long study sessions, to occasionally stay up an extra night or two, to get high occasionally?

I want the stims for concentration but probably won't pull all nighters at all. I'm also on max amounts of Wellbutrin and Effexor, also on Allegra-D, Albuterol and Ephedrine! so any scheduled drugs FUCK ME UP. I'm not especially into getting high though.

I really just want them for a reason to get up in the morning. I don't have a job and really dislike people so I stay in my (or my boyfriend's) house and cook and clean ALL day everyday, with the exception of class and dr appts. or if bf wants me to go somewhere.
