Getting a medical MJ card without being in the system?
A friend of mine (really!) is looking to get a medical marijuana card here in California. He has real legit reasons and all that jazz. He wants to know if you can get one without being "put in the system." He's worried about it ruining potential opportunities for government jobs down the line. I told him I doubt there's a way to do this, but I told him I'd ask here. Would having a medical MJ card ruin chances of getting a Gov. job anyway?
Thanks!

Well until medical marijuana is federally legalized I'd say it probably won't help his government job application.

Re: Getting a medical MJ card without being in the system?
After the state issues you your card they destroy all records of your prescription, paperwork, etc. This is to stop the federal government from compelling the state to turn over the identities of medicinal marijuana users; since the records are destroyed there is nothing to turn over.
So he will be put into the system, for as long as it takes the state to issue him his card, then all records will be destroyed by the state.

If you mean can he get a prescription without getting a State card, then the answer is yes. For now. They are talking about making it madatory.
But right now he need only have his prescription on him at all times.

I think I read somewhere that the law says you can't be discriminated (idk if thats the right word) against if you have medical marijuana. As long as it isnt affecting your work then your fine. I think...

Re: Getting a medical MJ card without being in the system?
actually i have the exact same question. theres a club around here that has free gram thursdays and i figure that alone will pay for the card over time. but i'm in a very technical major and i don't want a future employer not hiring me because i like to smoke. do you guys know if i have to give them my social or anything?
