An upper versus a downer
In my experience I've found people that take uppers are much more edgy in general, and with that comes extreme emotions. Peaks of bliss, fits of anger, feelings of feelings that no one else can describe after being up on a several day coke binge. Meth, MDMA, even you adderall loving highschoolers and caffine/nicotine strung adults.
The people that indulge in downers seem much more down to earth, passive, and normally only show irritation when they feel they are upset. Downers can almost give you a outsiders perspective on yourself, not to mention many times a "better" high for the risks than uppers. As long as your not shooting smack, I feel its easier to carry on a opiate/benzo habit then a coke or meth one.
So BLTC, what the hell are you, and why? Or do you cross the line sometimes with both, or stray into the vast vast unknown of Psychedelics?

Re: An upper versus a downer
300 mg Wellbutrin SR / 150 mg 5-HTP / 40 mg Adderall IR daily.
I used to be really bad-off into the world of the (nearly) bottomless benzo scripts but there's only so many years you can do that before you attain the desire to possess some kind of basic memory and the ability to feel emotions...
Adderall has done more for my social anxiety than any benzo ever did anyways.
And I feel less irritable on it, too. That is, assuming we're talking therapeutic-ish range, and not 100 mg+ up the nasal cavities.

Re: An upper versus a downer
Uppers seem to effect me more, I need less uppers to get "high than I do downers. I think this is because I'm already down enough sober, benzo's do absolutely nothing to me, except when I pop way too many and forget everything, there is no sedation. As with opiates, there is no sedation just euphoria. I tend to stick too downers now, I don't do stims ever since I tried to cut my best friends neck with a dart while he was sleeping.
The downers are startin' to kick in as we speak :).

Re: An upper versus a downer
i dont seem to like uppers to much just because I hate feeling my heart go ape shit upon my rib cage. Just this thing I have. Downers, it all depends. I tried morphien for the first time last night and it wasnt my favorite. So far I just stick to weed, trying hydrocodon today.

I guess I havent hit that point yet; downers always FTW. Been a benzo addict for just over 8 years now, don't really get into stims anymore except for the occasional yayo/ e trip. Not into opiates either strangley. Eh, I guess I will forever be a slave to the benzo.

Downers. Painkillers are the most euphoric thing i know of. Benzos are great for sleep and relaxation.
Amps are only good for when you have to go to work or school after not sleeping all night.
Fuck uppers, theres a comedown and then I cant sleep for many hours.

Don't feel compelled to answer, but I was curious as to whether you'd care to tell what kind of dosage you're on after that long. I was about 4 years in and had myself up to 8 mg Clonazepam/daily...not counting what I'd attain out of the doc's sight.

Not to worry man, I dont have a problem sharing.
As to what my doctor prescribes(each day):
10mg klonopin daily for general anxiety
4mg xanax as needed for panic attacks(I have a panic disorder)
6mg Ativan for insomnia(I also take Seroquel)
40mg Valium at night for insomnia
As for what other benzos, I dab into midazolam frequently and once in a blue moon Ill find some temazepam, thats pretty much it.
With my dosage at what is it is right now, my doctor straight up told me that if I quit cold turkey again I will not live. I'm lucky I survived last time, and I was at half of some of these doses.

Of course its too much, even a blind man could see that.
But Remember, ive been addicted to benzos for over 8 years now, my tolerance is literally unimaginable to you guys who just take benzos for recreation. And if I was to taper off those doses I would go through full blown withdrawals(Besides the fact that my anxiety and insomnia would rebound). Never again man, i'd rather take this here 1911 and just end it. Never again

Wow...I feel like small-fries with the kind of scripts I was getting now...
Seems somewhat odd you're on four different types of benzo though. Have you and your doctor (or you and another doctor if that applies) ever tried Xanax XR? I used to be on 3 mg XR twice daily and it seemed to help a lot with the "general anxiety" symptoms. A lot of people with severe panic disorder find some good results taking a solid Xanax XR dosage BID/12 hrs with 3-4 regular Xanax IR doses available throughout the day for PRN purposes.
I mean, if that combination is effective for you and you don't have any qualms about it, then I certainly wouldn't fuck with it; just throwing in my random $0.02 here as a fellow (ex)benzo patient.
BTW, how is your Klonopin split up? Do you take 2 mg five times a day, or do you take 5 mg twice a day?

Re: An upper versus a downer
I lost a large chunk of 2007 to benzos, I'm sure a few people around here have heard about it.
Quit cold turkey, HUGE mistake. Worst time of my life though I pulled through, had a couple smallish seizures among the many, many other horrible withdrawal effects. I quit because I ran out for a few days or so and a friend told me I had to stop during that time, I finally listened, so because of her, and because of someone else who I was falling maddeningly in love with and knew I couldn't feel it true to itself if I was on them, I quit.
I had the girl of my dreams holding me through the worst times in my life and I don't think I could have done it without her. Also quite soon after quitting I dived head first into psychedelics and dissociatives because I was in love with LIFE again, I learned a lot about myself through that and it helped so much with the craving for benzos.
I'm a really lucky guy for things to have played out the way they did, thinking about it make my eyes swell up a bit (Call me a pussy, I don't care).
Please people, benzos ARE fun sometimes when you're fooling around, but they aren't a toy, I recommend never doing them for recreational purposes and using them VERY, VERY, FUCKING sparsely when they are prescribed to you for legitimate reasons. Save them for a bad trip or comedown if you can't handle it. Of course you'll do what you want and I'm not really telling you what to do here, just my suggestions, but keep them in mind.
Addiction isn't something you see coming generally, especially when you"Just Don't Care".

Re: An upper versus a downer
I've only ever done amps once, but I'll have to go with uppers.
To me, nothing beats the pure euphoria. It's like all of the pros of the opiates with none of cons; no nausea, no apathy, and no fucking nausea. Sure, the comedown can be a bitch, but it's easy to prepare yourself for it, and well worth it for the amount of pure happiness beforehand.

I prefer downers generally. That's partially due to the fact the only stims I've ever done were 3/4 psychedelics.

It's acutually funny you mentioned xanax xr POC, my pschytrist has been pushing that for quite some time, I just never thought to much about it to be honest. And I was originally only on 3 benzos (valium being the exception), except I found out(by mistake) that taking a nice dose of valium before my Ativan dose makes the sedation alot stronger. Those two, along with a big dose of Seroquel can usually put me to sleep, although not at all times. And I take 2mg k-pins 5x a day. Usually 4mg when I wake, another 4 in the middle of the day, and another 2mg later on cause the nightime is always the worse.
If you dont mind POC, I have some questions for you and your benzo experience, along with how you dealt with the withdrawals(my achilles heal). My aim address is in my profile if you don't mind contacting me. Thanks
