Colored text in resume
I'm thinking of using colored text to high light important things in my resume, since its quite cluttered with information, such as contact information and name to make it easier to find. Is this a good or bad idea?

Re: Colored text in resume
You should re evalute the layout of your resume, and move things around until it's no longer a problem.

It really does depend heavily on what sort of role your going for, some places will like some colour and styling on the resume - other places will think that you wont fit it.
It can be good to get a nice corporate theme happening in the resume, so it looks professional, friendly and is easy to read but if your cluttering it, throwing colour and shit everywhere people might not bother finishing it.
Job searches can be very competitive, and if you dont have an extraordinary resume its not colours and themes that will optimise your chances - it will be how you can paint your experiences to suit the role your applying for, that and a decent cover letter.
Again you wont get better than generic advice/ thats how i roll yo calls from me unless you offer more than "er i want to put bright colours in my resume because it looks kinda shit".
What are you, undergraduate, high school graduate, dropout, part time work, hospitality work, construction... throw colour all over soe construction jobs and they'll call you a fag, others will like the creative design vibe your throwing out.
TL/DR
I mean fuck man, give me something to work with.

What about bold, italics or underlining?

Please just use this cover letter i wrote for you.

Dear sir madam,
I am a some guy who wants to come waste time in your office and be paid for it
from reading the headline of your "add company name" i believe that any serious canditates will apply elsewhere.
I have been a successful bludger at many pervious companies – and believe that if given use of a telephone and computer i could appear very busy. "insert vague reference to something you did for 3 hours a year ago that somehow relates to the industry"
At your office I could appear busy and even produce the bare minimum of work needed to stop myself getting fired, although the majority of my time will be spent on facebook and calling friends.
My strongest skills have very little to do with whatever job it is that I am applying for, but I will wear my year 10 formal suit to the interview and unless im still a bit pissed from the night before wont swear or mess up the place.
I promise that it will not show (a lot), and if it does I might just have to take a nap at my desk. I'll probably drag myself into work for a few months before a string of abscences with poor excuses while i try and find another company to finance my lifestyle.
I have attached a resume which I borrowed off my friend because anywhere that has employed me in the past has regretted it and fired me so i have added some fake companies, please contact me before you need a reference
so that I may get my friend to pretend to put on a professional sounding voice, even though hes probably stoned and you'll be able to hear the super mario music in the background.
Indifferent regards - some guy.

Re: Colored text in resume
It could work if you use 1 or 2 varying, professional colors, but I probably would risk it. It has high odds of looking really gay.

Re: Colored text in resume
If it's cluttered, try taking any extra words out and make the text concise. Save the prose for the cover letter. The resume is for the bare facts.
