Default Flash problem

Very recently, whenever I play a flash game or watch a .swf it plays very slow and choppy. The audio is always fine but not the graphics. The "settings" tab when you right click on a youtube video says its only using 2kb. I'm sure I have the latest version as well.

Can any of you help me fix this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm using firefox on ubuntu btw.

and

If this is the wrong forum please, just let me know.

You're kind of fucked if you're using Adobe Flash. They aren't going to improve their Gnu code anytime soon.

However, if you're using Gnash or SWFdec, the general rule for both is that SWFdec works with youtube and other video sites, Gnash works with most everything else. I wouldn't think either would be up for playing a game very well, but I would try them both and see how they work out.

adobe flash plugin runs like a dog and is crazy CPU intensive. i can't run fullscreen video (like youtube) on my system with it, when it runs perfectly in windows. i personally think its still the better of two (three?) evils though.

My suggestions would be check whats new thats likely to fuck with it. If anything is eating CPU time it will make playback choppy (i know ubuntu put a whole host of caching and search bullshit in the new version (hence why i am now using debian. Running multiple instances of flash video can be quite a bad idea. I'm not sure of what fixes you can do with firefox flash (never used it, opera rulez!!), but give it a google. if this is a genuine problem, odds are someone has a fix.

SWFdec runs youtube great. Trackerd is easy to disable or nice down, if you can't do that then you're just an idiot. Of course, if you're using opera, then you have two problems.

Don't expect support from the community if you're using slaveware.

I think you should also take in to account what swf files you're actually viewing. If you're viewing a flash animation movie with a frame rate higher than 21, it will put a lot of demand on your processor. Even on my dual core, 2gb of ram laptop running vista..whilst watching something like "waterlollies" by an artist called Adam Philips, can be quite choppy and slow.
