Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought.

Cool Re: The sad truth as I see it

  • Terrorism is declining worldwide
  • Obama doesn't suck, besides you can write-in whoever you want
  • Personal freedoms affirmed.
  • If politics was all about money, Mitt Romney would be the GOP nominee.

Terrorism is declining world wide? Did you even read that article? It has data up until 2006 first of all, and secondly it brings up numerous questions as to why we have this decline. It is important to remember that terrorist violence rose some 450% since '98 according to your article. A reduction of 100% (while it can be touted as a reduction in violence) it is a far way from victory.

You can write in whoever you want? They wont get elected if enough people dont know the person's name. If the media doesn't report on them, they will not be well known enough to win....plain and simple. The media CLEARLY has decided to keep it a two horse race.....unless you know of any mainstream media outlets doing coverage of Nader's campaign?????

We can still be spied on by our government, and shipped off to get-mo without a trial if we are SUSPECTED of terrorism, so dont tell me our personal freedoms are affirmed b/c the supreme court upheld ONCE AGAIN the second admendment.

You cannot argue that politics is not all about money b/c Romney did not get elected. So what if Romney had tons of money...perhpas he did not suck off the right special interest circles and promise to make them boat loads of cash...by continuing the wealthy, wealthy tax breaks of Bush. What your argument does not do is contest the fact that politics is about money.

We are definitely less safe from terrorism than we ever were. At least when they were organized factions we could use our intelligence assets to keep an eye on them, now they're floating around in small groups and we have no idea what they're up to, just like all those missing Russian nukes.

I didn't claim victory, but I think its safe to say that at the moment we're winning. After the Allies successfully secured beachheads after D-Day, Hitler still had a massive Empire, but the Allies were winning at that moment. The Pakistan-Afghanistan border is still a hotbed of terrorism but if Europe commits more troops we should have enough to quench the violence like we did in Iraq.

The Media did a fair amount of coverage of Ron Paul's campaign. They stopped after it became clear his internet support didn't equal his voter support. They're probably not covering Nader because he's been around for so damn long. I haven't bothered to look, but I'm sure that back in 1992 when Ross Perot was leading in the polls compared to GHWB and Bill Clinton he got plenty of coverage.

Just the same, a google news search for 'nader' returns 6,165 results from mainstream media outlets. Not comparable to results for mccain and obama, but not non-existent coverage.

Look at my links again. Each word had a hyperlink to a different freedom affirmed. It wasn't just the 2nd amendment.

Actually Mitt did want to continue the tax breaks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVEw1JhHcHY

If politics was all about money, we'd just have wealthy businessmen running for office, not people who gained their prestige through being a war hero (McCain) or a community organizer (Obama).

McCain is a warhero...when you compare him to other politicians and political commentators who support the war.

And ya, it does suck how in our democratic nation, we get two (and only two) choices for the president. And it is a sad day when politicians buy campaigns, and a negative ad campaign has more influence than the debates.

First point--the terrorists have won already, having converted Amerikka into a fear-ridden police state. Doubt that? Try flying somewhere sometime.

Two--our votes obviously didn't count in the 2000 election, as Bush basically stole it. However, Obama is the best hope that our country has seen in many years--and I speak as someone who campaigned for Gene McCarthy in 1968.

Three--our personal freedoms, far from slowly grinding away, were abolished in one fell swoop by the passage of the so-called Patriot Act, which essentially rendered the Bill of Rights null and void.
