Default Strattera Prescription

I went to the psychiatrist for an ADD test and he diagnosed me with autism. Its legitimate too my mother came in with me and answered a load of questions about when I was a kid. The good thing is he still prescribed me with ADD meds since I exhibit so many symptoms of it. Unfortunately he started me on Strattera instead of Ritalin though.

Anyone else here on strattera? I suppose any meds are better than no meds.

I'm not on Strattera but I've taken it before and it's really not a recreational drug if thats what you were going for. It's supposed to work pretty well as far as ADD's concerned tho.

It's pretty much garbage, my little bro has ADHD and he was on it for two months. It isn't even comparable to Ritalin/Concerta or Adderall.

It's not scheduled for a reason.

I'm just hoping it helps me think quicker and clearer but recreational properties woulda been a plus. He said it can take up to six weeks to accumulate in your system before you feel the full effects so I'm gonna wait at least a month before I consider getting him to switch my script to ritalin. He only mentioned those 2 ritalin and strattera he never said anything about adderall.

Theres no cure for autism he says and these kinda meds only work on 2 out of 10 people with autism so getting my script switched might not be as simple as telling him the strattera isn't working. He said himself he usually goes with conventional medications but in this case because I had alot of ticks when I was a child he'd put me on strattera because theres no risk of developing ticks on it.

I'll see how this strattera shit goes first though.

What symptoms of autism do you exhibit? Do you have emotions?

Yeah I have emotions but they're ridiculously stable. I can't relate to people with depression at all. The main symptoms he noticed himself was a slightly monotonous tone of voice for example I don't raise my voice when asking questions and don't lower my voice when answering them.

I also have hardly any facial expressions and the ones I do have are inappropriate in the situation. I make weird eye contact instead of not looking people in the eyes like I stare right into their eyes now with a fixed gaze as if I'm looking right through them.

I had lots of crazy habits and ticks as a child like chewing my sleeves, making circles in the air with my fingers, semetrically balancing everything I saw that was uneven. I used to do all sorts of mad shit like compulsively stacking videos and anything else stackable and I had a habit of licking my tums and rubbing my eyes. I have a tendency to take things at their face value and don't always catch implied meanings of sayings instead I take them literally. I walk like a lunatic with a wooden leg. I can read and use language well but I have trouble with verbal communication. I have my own unique accent but I didn't intentionally create it.

There are shitloads of symptoms I don't feel like listing them all but all I know is its not bad at all I can think properly and I'm as smart as most people even smarter than most when it comes to scientific subjects.

The main downside is I have shit social skills and loads of ADD symptoms. Supposedly most people have some ability to read others facial expressions and body language but autistic people don't have that ability. That would explain why I'm such a crap judge of character.

The psychiatrist asked about 200 questions mostly to my mother and he said "You don't have ADD but your without a doubt autistic". He can't determine whether its aspergers or high functioning autism but he says it makes no difference to my prognosis because theres no cure for these things.

The upside to this is the psychiatrist I went to is well known and respected and he's an authority on the subject of autism and ADD and most of the major universities take his opinion. He's gonna write me a letter for college and I will get special privileges like longer time to write exams and shit like that. This diagnosis turned out to be a blessing to be honest. Lots of scientists have aspergers and HFA so I won't be discriminated against. I hear Bill Gates has high functioning autism.

Yea but at the same time since I'm labeled I get special treatment in college. Lots of autistic people are real talented so its not necessarily a bad label. I have a scientific mind and I pick up all the science subjects quickly. I love electronics and things like that so I'm gonna enter one of these fields.

Well, since you're okay with it, to each their own. I exhibited some of the qualities that you mentioned in your earlier post, thankfully nobody told me I was autistic. Instead, they said I was depressed.

I've taken Straterra before, and apparently there is no recreational value or addiction risk.. BUT.. I've wondered. to someone with bad ADD, where Straterra makes a noticeable positive effect on their thinking.. how could that NOT be mentally addictive? The people experiencing positive effects from Straterra are probably just experiencing the strong effect of placebo (which is underestimated). then again, maybe not.

i went to a psych thinking i had add but was instead diagnosed with anxiety(wtf) so they tried antidepressants (pretended to take it for a little while) then after talking to the dr i convinced her that i might have add and she gave me straterra saying that its been found to work for both anxiety and add. i was on it for abt a month and just stopped cause i didnt feel like being dependent on meds. i still feel anxious at times but thats only when i smoke a lot of weed :D

You can test for a major symptom of Aspergers with this short diagnostic. Download this file( http://tinyurl.com/6ypuee ) and put it on a repeat loop. Turn your speakers on 8-10 and see what is does to you. Report back.

Loud noises disrupt the train of thought for people with Aspergers. They just stop whatever they were doing and try to find the source and stop it.

None of the local pharmacies around here stock strattera they have to order it in. They all stock ritalin though. Would you say thats a good enough reason to get my script switched? I'm already diagnosed thats official now but I don't want it to look like I just wanna switch to ritalin because its a recreational drug. I acted like I didn't know what ritalin was at the time though. I might just ring him up and says its too much of a hassle to get strattera because none of my local pharmacies stock it.

I thought you were trying to get me to blow up my speakers or something. I doubt I have aspergers then because I don't remember loud noises ever fucking with my head. Maybe it was a misdiagnosis. Either way I'm gonna reap the benefits. Meds and special treatment in college :)

Theres different levels of autism. He says I'm up on the high functioning end like Bill Gates. He said he couldn't determine whether it was high functioning autism or aspergers. Personally I don't really give a shit I'm just happy I'm going to get benefit packages when I go to college. Thats fucked up about your cousin. I'd take autism over schizophrenia any day. Was he badly autistic as in couldn't talk? I've never done acid but I've done enough shrooms to kill a rhino so I doubt theres much of a risk of me going schizo on psychedelics. No more than the next man anyway. Speed now thats a different story. I manage to drive myself schizo on every big speed binge. Temporarily psychotic at least.

Yea I go in for an ADD test and I come out autistic. I still got to walk away with a prescription though. If only it wasn't this strattera bullshit. I sent an email to the psychiatrist asking him to switch my script to Ritalin. I fuckin hope he does.

He just told me to order the shit. I got a months supply today and I had to pay $120 as opposed to $30 for Ritalin. Fuckin ripoff especially considering what a shit drug it is. I took twice the recommended dosage and I definitely feel something but I'm drowsy as fuck I just feel like going to sleep. What the hell is this bullshit? How the fuck is this meant to help me concentrate if all I wanna do is go asleep.

Thats gonna be my argument to get him to switch me to ritalin once my months supply is up. I'll tell him I'm real drowsy and I can't afford it. Fuckin strattera why do the pharmaceutical companies always have to come up with this bullshit that doesn't work just because the ones that do work have recreational properties.

This stuff definitely has effects. I can't feel much pain anymore. I accidentally smashed my knee off the corner of the table and it hardly even hurt. Usually that kinda thing is painful. I can also do twice as many pushups as I can usually do. I probably coulda done way more but I don't wanna push it. It has a physical numbing effect and my body feels lighter than usual and kinda tingly. You know when you feel your hair when your on speed and you can hardly feel it at all its like its not even there. I'm getting that effect. If I wasn't so fuckin drowsy it might actually be good.

yea he just would like always memorize shit like baseball cards and stuff. and just acted autistic then in his earb smoking days when he was like 19 someone gave him a sugar cube with acid on it must have been a lot. now hes full blown squitzo. he talks about how he hears voices telling him to shoot himself and stuff, but hes on so many meds I think its making him worse he takes like 800 mg of seroquel a day along with like 10 other different pills. Ive tripped over 50 times and find acid way chiller than shrooms or any other drug its changed me for the better. But I guess it fucks a lot of people up, my dad says LSD is fucked which pretty much offended me.
