Grindhouse
I just watched the movies in this pairing the other night and I've got to say, I enjoyed them thoroughly.
The utter ridiculousness of some parts of the scenario and the over the top violence.
I'm not sure if I liked Planet Terror more though, Death Proof seemed to lull a bit around the middle.
What are your thoughts?

Re: Grindhouse
I enjoyed Planet Terror a lot more than Death Proof, though Kurt Russel is always awesome. The first like 45 minutes of Death Proof were so boring right up to when those bitches get collectively murdered.

Re: Grindhouse
I loved both.
Planet terror is such a fun fest.
Death proof is great. It does have it's slow points, but I think they are totally necessary in order for the lack of lulls to be as strong as they are.

Re: Grindhouse
Seen both and I much prefer Planet Terror. Deathproof is badly structured and boring. Massive amounts of (not particually interesting) dialogue followed by long, drawn out car chases. The action works but the dialogue is just boring crap that is just QT wanking himself to death in his self indulgences.
Planet Terror is more enjoyable in it's sillyness and has some great characters and great action.

Re: Grindhouse
I should add now that I thought the whole Machete concept was made of pure win.

Re: Grindhouse
I loved Grindhouse and saw it opening night. Planet Terror was good, but I liked Death Proof more because it was more of the 70's horror movies where Planet Terror was just over the top, nonstop shit happening. Planet Terror did a great homage to the original zombie movies just as Death Proof did for the slasher/car stunt films.
To the people complaining about Death Proof. What would you rather? Just some guy coming out randomly trying to chase girls down? That would be retarded, you wouldn't care about anyone in the film, and it would make absolutely no sense. Planet Terror could get away with that because honestly, how many zombie movies did you see in the past with such quality writing on the level of the Godfather? None. Zombie movies are ridiculous gore and that's about it. Quit crying about Death Proof, they are 2 entirely different movies.

Re: Grindhouse
I wasn't fussed on Planet Terror, watchable at best. Deathproof, though, kicked ass.

Re: Grindhouse
My beef with Death Proof is that the first like 45 minutes are boring as fuck. Listening to these radio bitches talking about pretentious shit is not quite my cup of tea. Hey, the second half of the movie was much better.

Re: Grindhouse
planet terror, i laughed so hard
partly cause of the purposefully bad acting in places, the dumb names, quentin having a soggy boiling cock, the "all or nothing box" - which reminded me of the all or nothing days mentioned in sin city.
