Trust your gut? Two part question.
So sometimes you'll have suspicions of things and no evidence. Just lots of minuscule hunches that all point towards one thing. Do you trust your gut feelings?
Now to the situation: I'm backpacking overseas and I'm getting the feeling in my gut that my girlfriend is being dodgy from MSN/text messages. Just little things. Now the first thing I did was communicate with her (before you all say 'did you try to communicate'). I sent her a message telling her I'm having trouble trusting her, and that I'll speak to her about it soon, but if she could not message me back as I'm staying in a dorm room and she'll wake my roomies (it was 3am here).
Now the second part of the question: I was always told when you confront some one, and they instantly get aggressive or extremely defensive instead of trying to reassure you, they're very likely hiding something (**go to end for a good example). Do you agree with this?
** Girlfriend goes through boyfriend's email and finds out he's cheating, she confronts him, he ignores the fact that she just found out he's cheating and says things like "I can't believe you went through my email! That's such an invasion of privacy"

Re: Trust your gut? Two part question.
It's hard to know, so I generally just ask and see if they give a satisfactory response. A lot of times something will look suspicious (she ignores my calls, say) but turns out to be benign (she had left her phone).
I'm a very paranoid person, so I get a lot of these "gut feelings". It seems completely random as to when it turns out I'm right and when I'm just being paranoid... so I think you did the right thing by bringing it up.
As for defensiveness, it can have many reasons; I'm sensitized to certain issues so I'll instantly get aggressive when people bring them up, guilty or no. I think a lot depends on how you bring it up; if you're accusatory, then no wonder if they get defensive. If you're not and they do anyway, maybe it's a sore point... or maybe they're hiding something.

Oh btw, bitch if you're reading this I told you stay the fuck off totse! Fucking MOLE!
Any way , I rarely have these gut feelings. I let my guard down a lot! I try to be as trusting as I can and I'm very liberal.
The thing is, last time I had this gut feeling it turned out I'd being sharing a girlfriend's axe wound for about 4 months with this hairy wog. *sigh*

Re: Trust your gut? Two part question.
Go with your gut. You're off on travels, so short of trust...I have to recommend rolling with your instincts.
If she isn't doing anything, then you've got nothing to worry about.
What does your gut tell you to do?

Re: Trust your gut? Two part question.
Always listen to your gut. Regardless of how much "evidence" is provided to you to prove the contrary, your gut is always right. Always. Unless you've been proven wrong a lot. Then I dunno what to tell you. My gut feelings have never been wrong so this is basically all I've got.

Your gut feeling would indicate that whether you run or walk to a certain point you'd travel the same distance, right?
