Question Feelings for ex's

Well I've been in a relationship with a girl for about four months. We basically got together really quickly after meeting and fell in love very quickly, get along great.
Whats bothering me is that one night we were talking on the phone and the subject of an ex came up who seems to have broken her heart, I guess I kinda interrogated her about it, she started crying and said talking about it brought back all the hurt she experienced (he cheated on her). Well we had and argument and ressolved it, but its still bothering me. She says that she still loved him until the day she fell in love with me, and she reassures me that she loves me, I believe her. But I can't help thinking that she still has feelings for this guy and loves him. She claims that she only loves me but I can't stop thinking that her crying implys she still loves him. We havnt talked about it for a while now. I feel guilty because I know that I care about some of my ex's (thats just natural), but I think I'm still in love one of them.

Am I being immature about the situaiton is this natural for her to have feelings for an ex or should I be worried about it?

Thumbs up Re: Feelings for ex's

You're not being immature. Do you cry about people you don't care about?
Of course not, that's completely illogical. I guess it depends on how long she was with her ex-boyfriend. Even if she does still love him, you love one of your old girlfriend's too, right?

Just don't bring him up again, and make sure you're that good a boyfriend that you push him totally out of her mind.

Wait a minute....

You're trying to bum off this guilt on her, when you're being just as big an asshole and housing feelings for your ex, too?

Dude, you're being a dick.

^ This. Seriously OP, get off your high horse and shut up if you still love one of your ex-girlfriends.

okay thanks for the advice. Its not as though I dwell on feelings for my ex, I only realised that its still there whenever I see her (chance meetings).

Everyone has some kind of feelings for their ex-partners, be they positive or negative. You make that kind of emotional investment in somebody and you're not going to shake it off quickly. You can look back on the time you spent with an ex fondly without wanting to give up what you have now for it, and the memory of heartbreak can be upsetting even if you no longer want to get back with them. Standard relationship paranoia.

But yeah, anyway, if you think you're still in love with one of your exes you don't have any right to complain.

wrong. it doesn't matter what the person on totse has done or should feel guilty about, its to help out the person on totse regardless if they're just as big of an offender.

I did make a post to help him out, but he's still a hypocrite and I'd be a lot more sympathetic if he wasn't in love with an ex. It's like somebody who's cheating on their girlfriend worrying that their girlfriend is cheating on them, he really doesn't have any ground to stand on.
