I have oramorph. (Morphine solution, 10mg/5ml).
I want to convert it into Hydromorphone for obvious reasons. I've wiki'd it and it seems simple - put it in alcohol solution, platinum catalyst, reflux, profit???

I'm doing A level Chem, I know it's not half as easy as that because wiki isn't a 'howto'. So could anyone care to post either a link to or a short and precise list of instructions?

I can steal any equipment needed, platinum catalyst might be expensive but it's a cost I'm willing to pay.

Good luck. Even if you get platinum, you still have to figure out a way to:

Melt it down at...1,774 degree Celcius

Purify it...

So not happening.

But before this is closed or heads over to lab tips to get flamed/closed, I might as well tell you that you could try to make diamorphine out of your morphine. Much easier, all you really need to steal would be acetic anhydride from your school.

I know you want hydromorphone, wouldnt you want oxymorphone more though?
