Desert Eagles...
I was in the gun shop today and the bloke had a .357 magnum DE in there. Just for shits and giggles I took a look at it. My first impression was "Holy fuck this thing has the ergonomics and twice the weight of a brick". I couldnt reach the mag release with my thumb because of the retardedly wide/long grip, and charging that thing revealing the rotating bolt i got the distinct feeling of opening a bag with butchered children in it and just wanting to close it right back up again and pretend I never saw it.
Does anyone own one and want to point out the good points in it? Because I certainly couldnt see any (especially with a $3000 price tag and IT WASNT EVEN GOLD PLATED!)

Re: Desert Eagles...
Yeah, first time I picked one up I thought it was just a little heavier than my SKS, but the baby eagles are supposed to be alot more ergonomic than the full sized ones, although, I've never had any experience with them.
As for good points, uhhh, if you're to believe the guy that was standing next to me, "Those things will go thru trees!"

He wasn't lying, although it depends on your type of tree.
I fucked up a palm tree once with mine (.357 Magnum) pretty good.
In all, I would not use it as a sef- defense handgun. It's way too large and heavy. Mind you, the trigger is the best target trigger I have ever tried on a factory gun. Crisp, clean, and breaks at around 1 lb. The hammer is also very smooth to operate. Its a good range gun, if you want to impress the people at the range, etc. Mine, I didn't buy mine, it was given to me by an ond retired General who got it as a gift from the Israeli government and didn't find any use for it. It was in unfired condition, and turns out its one of the first 1000 prototypes (serial 3300). I know I've said this a million times, but I guess this is the only really interesting gun I own .
I've had a problem with it disassembling during firing because the recoil loosened up the firing pin retainer plate, but that was remedied with loctite. If you don't use hot loaded .357's, it will jam. You can also use it for very precise target shooting if loaded with .38 S&W (short) ammo. This fails to cycle the gun, but the recoil is zero, and you can place all 9 shots withing 0.75 inches at 25 mts.
Its a good shooting piece, but definitely not a combat piece. It requires way too much tender loving care. And $3000 is just too much.
In short:
Pros:
Extremely accurate
Powerful caliber
Best trigger and hammer ever
Very smooth to operate
Cons:
Weight
Size
Recoil
Needs hot loaded ammo
needs tender loving care
Horribly expensive

Jericho 941's are based off of CZ-75's, which are in turn based off the Browning Hi Power.

Yes and no. The Jericho/Baby Eagle is obviously a CZ clone. The CZ, however, doesn't really have all that much in common with the HP.

Re: Desert Eagles...
Jerichos were made under supervision from Tanfoglio, they're nothing more than yet another CZ-75 clone, if you look at pics of the first generation Jerichos, those actually have Tanfoglio made parts, the grip is identical to the Tanfoglio Force model for instance.
That Baby Eagle stuff is just clever marketing from the American importer, it's sad to think that such a strategy would actually work to increase sales, it shows you the influence the media has on people's minds and on consumer's choices, CZ clones are great and definately don't need to be associated with Deagles to have an appeal.

So you threw the gun with enough force to send it thru a tree?
This particular guy ( and basis for the sad attempt at humor on my part) was one of those "The gun is really powerful" types, you know, the kind that doesn't realize that a .357 is a .357 is a .357 (ignoring barrel length and such). His thought process was akin to "Wow, I saw this in a rap video and it's friggin' HUGE! Must be really good"
On the even funnier side, that cat almost lost a pinkie because he didn't realize what a slide release was for, or even that such a thing existed. Unfortunately, the clerk showed him how to unlock the slide, thus ruining my lulz.

. Well, like you said, a .357 is a .357. It will go through soft woods quite handily.
O/T, I remember the first time I tried my first AK, I took aim at some meter thick pine trunk from about 10 yards. A burst later, I went up to check the tree and was surprised to discover that the bullets had gone clean through.

Re: Desert Eagles...
You remember that Mossberg breacher? I took down a sapling with it. 3 rounds, 2 3/4" 00 buck. Tree was probably around 4 inches at the trunk.
