you guys ever done psychoactives in the desert? I went on a 11-day trip to central Australia, I connected so closely to the mother earth that it was just... awesome. indescribable. I now understand the culture, the spirituality of the aboriginees the most any white man can.

I've never tried entheogens in a desert environment but I personally believe hallucinogens make every back-to-nature experience that much better.

But a lot of people will say that if you can't reach some level of communal consciousness or whatever you want to call it without adding artificial sweeteners, you're missing the whole point of the exercise.

Which camp do you guys reside in?

Between the ages 18 and 25, when I was still living in the LA area, My friends and I used to go out to a place called Painted Canyon, out near Indio in the California desert.

The place was great for tripping. There were these dirt hills, like 50ft high, that formed these tiny canyons. The dirt absorbed sound so if there was someone on the other side, you'd never know it.

So we'd go out there, take 4 to 8 hits of good gel and just tripped our asses off. Some of my best memories were there. It was the first time I'd ever seen a satellite buzz overhead.

There are pretty good theories that hallucinogens, specifically psylocibin mushrooms, are what caused humans to evolve from monkeys (Terence McKenna's "Stoned Ape" Theory of Human Evolution). That in mind, it makes perfect sense that tripping in a pure nature environment would trigger deep thoughts and realizations of life.

I've done mushrooms alone in a forest far away from human life, and that was an amazing experience in itself. Impossible to translate the thoughts I still hold today; I can only suggest that people try it themselves. I don't live near and deserts but I want to try that so very much.

Deserts are very cool. I find it to be an oddly spiritual place. And in a way unlike forests or other natural and more fertile surroundings.

I had my first desert trip at burning man 06 it was awesome the high heat really kicks in the trip like nothing else! a must for any drug enthusiast.

One of my [hopefully] soon to be real dreams...

I'm nowhere near the desert so it's dependent on when I can manage to get out there, I've already got my goods.

I'd love to do this, take the "Jim Morrison" trip.... pretty ruthless.

if i ever did ride out to the desert to trip it would have to be in one of the colder months, i was in moab utah a few years back at arches national park... temps reached about 110 degrees... minimum of a gallon of water a day or your ass is dead...
