We KNOW something's wrong with us
I'm gonna share a little story with you.
I'll start by saying I suffer from anxiety disorder, depression, panic disorder and dyspraxia.
Yesterday, I was in my Psychology class. We started a unit on mental disorders.
I was actually pretty interested, but my Psychology teacher apologised to me for bringing up the disorders I have whenever she mentioned them as being "abnormal", which is the psychological definition for any behaviors that do not follow what is considered standard.
I would have been totally fine about it, but whenever she apologised, I felt guilty for making her feel a need to.
Some people just don't understand - we know our disorders are abnormal, and we know that we're fucked up. It's not like we think it's normal to feel how we feel. We FEEL it anyway, even though we know it can be irrational or over-the-top, and we can't control that.
Does anyone agree with what i'm saying?

What a dumbass teacher. Why is she even bringing up your personal shit in class? You shouldn't feel guilty for this, she's just tactless.

Re: We KNOW something's wrong with us
She sounds like one of those overly PC people. I used to have a history teacher who would apologize to the black kids in our class everytime she taught slavery.

Re: We KNOW something's wrong with us
if she wasn´t apologising we had a thread in this forum now about how tactless a teacher was when she talked about mental disorders and somone suffering from them was present ..
your mental disorders include never being happy and content with what you got?

No no no
you're getting me totally wrong here
I knew that if i chose to do Psychology, of course we'd be studying common disorders, I have no problem with discussing them, it's the fact that she assumed i'd be offended in some way if we did that gets me a little offended.

it´s a fact that if she wasn´t assuming that you´d be offended, you´d be complaining now for being offended ..

Re: We KNOW something's wrong with us
I'd feel more offended at the fact that she let your entire class know that you're a headcase.
Now break into her house, go through her stuff, talk loud about something in class and as soon as she enters apologize for discussing [insert personal problem here] while she is present.
