Default Manually Intalling and Configuring Grub for Ubuntu

I'm setting up a triple boot with Ubuntu, XP and Slackware. I installed Ubuntu as my primary OS but I know that Ubuntu doesn't install Grub if it didn't detect any other OS's when it was being installed so I'm going to have to install it manually and configure it to detect XP and Slackware when I install them.

Is this what I have to do or will Slackware provide some sort of boot loader when I install it?

Ubuntu always installs grub. Every OS needs a bootloader.

Each one of those OS's will install their own bootloader, unless you tell Ubuntu or Slackware not to. Windows will just pave over the MBR. My advice is to install windows first, then slackware, and then Ubuntu. Ubuntu will set up grub for you and detect all other operating systems, and usually does a great job of it.

Ah yeah thats what happened last time XP rewrote the MBR. Alright thats what I'm gonna do. Install XP, Slackware then reinstall Ubuntu. If Slackware doesn't give me the option of which OS to boot that is. I've never tried Slackware before but I've heard good things about it.
