diphenhydramine vs dimenhydrinate
whats the difference between diphenhydramine and dimenhydrinate? both are anti emetics, and the effects sound at least very similar (delerium, hallucinations)
dimenhydrinate is in dramamine, ive taken 10 pills and saw lighting bolts that didn't exist and watched telephone poles twitch, but not much more, and i wasnt completely delerious or anything. ive heard at higher doses you'll like talk to people who aren't there, and this sounds similar to descriptions of the effects of diphen. erowid doesn't say much about dimen, so i was wondering if anyone can clear up what the difference is, or if there even is any.
btw, it was a shitty drug. uncomfortable body sensation, and it was really hard to carry on a conversation because youd forget what you were saying mid sentence.
but im just curious, there've been a lot of diphen threads recently, and im just wondering if i did basically the same thing, or if theres a difference

I think diphenhydramine is 2X powerful as dimenhydrinate.

yeah, good way of putting it, no where near good.
but not horrible. i mean its worth a try if you want to see shit thats not there for like a 5 dollar pack of dramamine, but its like acid, minus the euphoria, and then add in that your clumsy, uncomfortable, and cant string two words together.
and acid visuals seems more ... aesthetically pleasing to me.
but admittedly ive only done acid once and dramamine once.

Dramamine is nothing like acid.

i meant that they both make you hallucinate, and in my experience, acid hallucinations are better
i didn't mean to say they were similar

Re: diphenhydramine vs dimenhydrinate
The diphen ''trip'' is one of the most uncomfortable feelings I've ever felt...uughghh I still get the chills thinking about the last time I did it =[ There are lots of reasons why, but the worst thing about it was that I kept having to remind myself to breathe!! Has that happened to any of you?

I don't know if this is specific to dramamine, but this effect/symptom is DEFINITELY a majorly noticeable one when it comes to Diphenhydramine, at least from my personal past experience.
Note: Firsthand experience, as shameful as it is to admit that, by the way.

I've never had to remind myself to breathe, but I've noticed its definatley different...like very shallow. I think its just because diphen relaxes your muscles and it makes breathing more difficult.

Re: diphenhydramine vs dimenhydrinate
Dimenhydrinate is the prodrug of diphenhydramine - A little caffeine along with that dramamine will make the whole thing go down real sweet.

Re: diphenhydramine vs dimenhydrinate
Diphenhydrinate along with Diphenhydramine produce the same effects. The only difference is a dosage. 50 mg of Diphenhydrinate is equivalent to around 25 mg of Diphenhydramine. A trip is different for everyone, but for most people, hallucinations are very common at higher doses. I on the other hand, can go without any hallucinations at doses as high as 800 mg. I get a body high in a sense, but it's odd. The only negative effect I get really is sleepiness, and sometimes things are way brighter and it's kind of hard to keep the eyes open.
Before you even think of trying to take Diphen, I recommend doing a lot of research as I did, and if you still feel up to it, then by all means give it a shot. Take a look at the experience reports on Erowid and look around Totse. Most people detest the type of trip they get, but like I said. It's different for everyone. Just be safe and don't do it too often if you do choose to do it.
EDIT: Oh, I also recommend smoking a bowl with it.

When I was younger, my friend and I would go through OTC phases when we couldn't afford real drugs. DXM was a different story, but we'd always be nervous about taking diphen, because of how uncomfortable it generally made us. Diphen is kind of like the last resort to someone who is just looking to get fucked up on anything. I sure as hell wouldn't want to do it often. Actually, every time I did it I kicked myself in the ass during and after the "trip" because of the negative effects. I don't mean negative as in it not working, but I mean it as it working in a very weird, uncomfortable, consistent, freaky kind of way. I would not recommend doing it often..

Re: diphenhydramine vs dimenhydrinate
"The differences relate to the weight-for-weight potency (50 mg dimenhydrinate contains 29 mg of the drug diphenhydramine), delay of action (dimenhydrinate must dissociate into diphenhydramine and its counterion in the body before it is active, therefore diphenhydramine produces effects sooner), and degree of sedation produced.
Chemically, dimenhydrinate is a salt of two drugs: diphenhydramine and 8-chlorotheophylline, a chlorinated derivative of the theophylline. Theophylline is very closely related to caffeine and theobromine, mild central nervous system stimulants. It was thought that by combining the antiemetic effects of diphenhydramine with a stimulant, the extreme drowsiness induced by the former could be mitigated somewhat by the latter. In actuality, the sedation caused by diphenhydramine is substantially stronger than the stimulation caused by chlorotheophyllinate."

Re: diphenhydramine vs dimenhydrinate
It's like comparing the smell of a solid turd to runny diarrhea..they're both horrible in their own special ways. Visuals are more intense with Diph..but it still isn't worth it.
And no....this shit has NOTHING on acid. Never speak those words again.

Re: diphenhydramine vs dimenhydrinate
I have had amazingly fun and great times on both (as been said it's mainly a dif. in strength) as well as terrifying life threatening times.
Having done it many times, quite spaced out, I've had full on OBEs and had the ability to see literally whatever I wanted to. I've also stopped breathing and had my heart slow down to an extremely worryingly low rate on other occasions.
You have to like deliriants to enjoy using these drugs, after all, that's what they are. Don't think you're in for a night of classic "tripping". It's a very different experience and can be one of the worst times of your life if it's not your type of thing. You also have to be smart enough to know what you're doing and to recognize when you actually need help.
Having a sitter is nice for your physical safety but it usually won't do much for your psychological safety. You might not even know they are there. The sitter HAS to know what being on the drug is like, otherwise, I don't see much of a point to them other then holding you back from trying to do something ridiculously insane. Rule of thumb, don't do anything you wouldn't normally do, but that holds little meaning when you're delirious...
Definitely not for everyone, like most drugs.

Re: diphenhydramine vs dimenhydrinate
difference is about twice as potent.
becareful with it lol!!! dont expect it to be like acid, mushies, in fact like anything else you've tried, unless you've taken deleriants before.
i know people look down on them but i think if you're a psychonaut, taking a deleriant just once is ok so you know what the fuss is about.
expect NO euphoria, uncomfortable bodyload, dry mouth, bloodshot eyes, shit feeling for a couple of days.
expect (if high enough dosage), spinning see through ball of energy, spiders, locusts (general arachnid type dudes), you'll hear voices, see people.... cool thing is you dont actually realise you are hallucinating/hearing things.
take some caffiene/speed/ephe to stay awake but becareful as tachycardia is a side from diph. you wont remember some of it but you will think WTF from what you remember.
