I was going through old prescriptions, hoping to find something to ease my peripheral neuropathy when I ran across two older scripts that I didn't recognize (guess I never tried them). One is called Oxydose (a liquid opiate) and the other is called Opana ER 20mg. Are these any better than Oxycodone, Hydromorphone, Methadone. or MS Contin for pain relief (which help only marginally)? BTW, I don't IV.

How about the Opana? I was always under the impression that Dilaudid or Methadone was the best opiate for pain relief, at least taken orally. Would you agree?

those are two sweet scripts you got there, dude. i just wiki'd oxymorphone and it states that it is 6-8x more potent than regular morphine. and the oxydose is just liquid oxycodone. good score, dude! hopefully those scripts will still be valid, though.

Methadone is hardly recreational, it mostly sedates the shit out of you with shit for euphoria. Now here's where I'm confused. I read the Wiki article about Opana being so much stronger than morphine but when I plugged in the numbers on the opiate converter, 20mg. of Opana only equal 40mg. of Percocet.

What am I missing?

yeah, 20mg of opana is approximately equal to about 40mg of oxycodone. that's awesome, lol.

another example is how one 20mg oxymorphone is approx. about 15mg hydromorphone or 60mg hydrocodone!

That still doesn't explain how the morphine was so much better and longer lasting than the Percocets. If you have allegedly done percocets, methadone, and morphine not doing much opiates is no excuse for being "so high for a long time" by taking two morphine sulfate pills orally.

Yeah, I've pretty much limited myself to oral, although it's not some religious or philosophical hangup with me. I just don't like needles. I figure if I managed to get through college without trying it, (probably the one route of administration that I didn't try), I doubt I'll start now when I actually have a legitimate reason for piercing a vein.

I still fondly remember that warm, sweet rush of a Demerol injection, (no idea the dose), after an accident that landed me in the ER. That was one memorable experience! I don't know how Demerol compares to Heroin but damn!!! I'm definitely not surprised that people pick up the habit; what is surprising is the fact that IVing isn't more prevalent.

Now from what I read, the nasal route sounds like a viable option for getting the most bang for your buck.

No, as long as you aren't snorting something stupid like opiates with APAP or snorting methadone. If taking morphine, snort it no doubt since injecting isn't an option.
