Cleaning up..
I've built a nasty opiate habit that I've finally decided to do something about after a year and a half. It all started when I hurt my foot, neck and back in a car accident. I was perscribed the highest mg of Motrin, but they didn't help me at all in the slightest. I started buying vicodin, and then that tuned to percs, then oxys, and then unfortunately snorted heroin a few times recently. Now, I either do 5-6 perc 10s almost every day, or 3-4 oxy 20s. I'm a 23 year old female, 5'3'' and about 5 lbs overweight. Do you think I have a good chance at getting an alternative like suboxone perscribed to me when I talk about this to my psych? I've been trying to do this cold turkey, and the muscle pains are unbearable. It feels like the pain is a poison that is pulsating through my nerves, muscles, and bones. One minute I bundle up in sweatpants, hoodie, and 2 blankets shivering, and the next minute I'm in my bathing suit sweating profusely. My emotions are really sensitive and out of balance. I either don't sleep for 2 days, or sleep through 2 days. This is hell. I really don't think I can do this cold turkey, because it's not like it's getting better every day. It feels worse as the days go on, and that's why I always relapse. Do you think I have any chance at all at getting an alternative med to help me stop??

Re: Cleaning up..
You need to slowly lower your dosage everyday to the point where you don't take anything. It's going to take some willpower, but if you want to quit you have to have it.

Yeah it sure is, but your not to bad off yet do what that guy said.
Its all about maintaining just cut out like a pill a week or a day if you can handle that just take it slow.
There is a negative stigma attached to drugs like methadone and suboxone, so just try to do it yourself and if its not working go for suboxone its a great drug for helping kick the habit. That is what i would try to do first.
Good luck.

Re: Cleaning up..
Replacing your addiction with suboxone or methadone isn't doing you any good. The withdrawls from those are 10x worse, so man up and do it now. Just slowly lower your dosage.
Set yourself a schedule to where you take less every so many days, it's going to be hard but it's better then quitting cold turkey and you just have to realize you need to fucking do it or you're going to be a slave to the chemical the rest of your life.

shes 5 foot nothing. That, to me is like a nice petite body. At 5 feet tall I wouldn't say a girl is too skinny unless she goes below 90 lbs. Just my 2 pennies.

No, I don't think I look bad though. Why would I be disgusting, because I'm just 5 pounds over? Well, at least I'm proportioned pretty nice. I don't mind it at all.

Re: Cleaning up..
If you want to give the Suboxone thing a try its not hard to do at all, you just cant really just go to the doctor you normally see b/c docs have to have a special certification (they have to take a class to get it) in order to be allowed to prescribe Suboxone. You can find a doctor that has this certification easily through the Suboxone website: suboxone.com
You just type in your zip code and how far around you want to look for doctors with the certification to prescribe the Subs. Remember though, it'll be expensive as hell for a prescription if you dont have insurance. For me, even with insurance 30 Subs had a copay of 30 bucks, and it would've been 300 without insurance (plus the cost for the doctor). Plus the withdrawal from Suboxone is longer (and thus worse for most people) than withdrawal for short-acting opiates like heroin and oxy. Methadone has the worst withdrawal of all. But you gotta do what you gotta do.
You dont have to go just cold turkey though you know. There's lots of meds (nonopiate meds) that make withdrawal easier, sedatives like Valium/Xanax/Klonopin, weed, and alcohol (helped me a ton, getting hammered all day every day can be nice). Stimulants can also help with the emotional side of things. "Replacement therapy" works well when the drugs doing the replacing arent physically addictive (like stimulants and weed) or at least not as physically addictive (like the sedatives and alcohol) as the drugs being replaced. And in the end if you end up just switching from one addiction to another, at least being addicted to other stuff isnt as bad, you're not gonna get muscleaches and hot-cold sweats from a day of missing your doses.
The best detox regimen I think is decreasing your opiate dose by 1/3 every 3 days. You could go slower of course. And while you're decreasing your doses, drink alcohol and/or smoke weed and/or take other things to help you fill that void that the opiate high was filling for you. So you wanted to go slower than 1/3 every 3 days you could do something like go down from 60 mg oxy/day to 50 mg/day for 3 days (while taking other stuff), then after 3 days take the dose down to 40..etc. I think its sometimes better to do it faster that that slowly b/c you just get ansy and upset, and while other shit helps out it still doesnt replace that nice blissful high.
If you did like 60 mg/day ---> 40 mg/day (3 days) ---> 25-30 mg/day ----> 15-20 mg/day ---> 10-15 mg/day ....etc then that would work within 2-3 weeks and might have a good chance of working.
Edit: I like how this thread suddenly, or not so suddenly, has now become the body image thread.

Well, i personally can't give you any new information that hasn't already been posted, but good luck op. I'm sure you're body is nice the way it is, just make sure to stay healthy when going through WD.
ps. don't mind niggahead... Mr.Elusive's advice is the same as mine. I personally have no experience with opiate addiction though. I honestly wish you the best of luck.:p

Hahha yeah this thread has went from drugs to food to body image, then back to drugs. Thanks for all of the info though. I really like Mr. Elusive's approach, because I think the slower I do this, the better. Everyone has really great, and different ideas about this though. When will my interests come back? When will I actually be excited to do something again? I think I lost some feelings through this tough time too, but I'm sure I'll get everything back that I need if I just make the right choices.

dont go on methadones or suboxone just fuckin do it. the worst is only 4 or 5 days max. you wont gain a shitload of weight back as long as you dont stuff your face with donuts and shit. but youll gain back a little so you at least look normal again not skinny as fuck, which is a good thing.

Just make sure you don't do it too slow...as in keeping your addiction and pulling that whole "no i'm weaning myself! i swear!" and truthfully you aren't. For example, going for a 5 minute run, than eating a baconator from wendy's after and saying you exercise daily. I mean that in the nicest way, i'm not saying you are going to do that. Just don't want to lose someone else on Totse due to opiate addiction. Again, Good luck.

suboxone isn't going to help you, its not this magic cure all, its just another opiod...
here's what you need to do, stabalize, size down slowly, and you'll be dependent-less before you know it. takes growing some willpower but you can do it....
and if you have to kick cold turkey, the worst of its physically is gone in a week..

Isn't suboxone an opioid blocker? I heard that it makes you feel like you're on an opioid because that's what it tells the receptors or something along those lines? And if you try to take a perc, oxy, or any other kind of opioid, it wont work?

Yeah it wont even work for a while like 12-24 even more after taking the suboxone
It feels like an opioid cause it kinda is i think bupe/naloxolone tabs are like 8mg subox 2mg naxlone the shit with the n blocks the opiate receptors i think
Tastes like oranges if you didnt know its not to gross actually

The naloxone doesn't do shit. Its not active unless injected. Its in there to prevent people from IV'ing it.Its the buprenorphine that does the blocking. It binds to receptors way stronger than any other opiate. The buprenorphine is a partial opiate agonist. Its just way less euphoric than the full agonists like morphine, oxy, or methadone.
I wish people would get this straight. The naloxone doesn't block anything. Its the bupe.
You need a dose over 4mg/day to even have a blocking effect. Low doses won't really block much.
I've been on sub for over a year now and it kinda sucks. I've tried to go off it but the WDs are bad. Insomnia, yawning, aches, etc. I'm on a real low dose now tho.
