Without drugs, would you be a different person?
I was wondering how people thought about this.
Would you be somewhere else, with more money, etc...

Parents pay for drugs. And of course, nature over nurture.

Re: Without drugs, would you be a different person?
I'd definitely have more money, a lot more. Other than that nothing would really change. Drugs aren't that big of a part of my life, and I intend to keep it that way. Drugs are mega fun but I'm sure I'd find some cool/rewarding hobby to replace them.

Re: Without drugs, would you be a different person?
I would probably hang out with the "in" croud if I didn't do drugs. Not that I give a fuck anyways, but before I started doing drugs I used to hang out with the kids wwho are "popular" in school. Then once I started they abandoned me simply because they knew I did drugs and they thought it was trashy or some bullshit. But honestly I'm better off not hanging around kids who are so judgmental.

well, i would probably have an entirely different social group, reputation, relationship with my family, and opinion of myself. Not that any of these things would be any worse or better without drugs, they would just be drastically different.

At my school the popular people use tons of drugs, but the major difference if would be that I would have way more cash to spend on worthless things.

Blaming your social ills on drugs is similar to a high school dropout complaining that he can't find a job.

Re: Without drugs, would you be a different person?
I couldn't even begin to think what my life would be like had I never used drugs, hell, because of mushrooms I live in the city I live in, and because of that I met my wife, and now have a son. Hell I wouldn't have had my daughter if not for pot, that's how I met her mom. I sure as hell wouldn't know as much as I do about chemistry had I never done drugs.
I think I would be a boring motherfucker, living god knows where, doing god knows what.
No, I am quite glad I have done the drugs I've done. Without LSD, MDMA, Mushrooms, marijuana, and DMT, I would not be the person sitting here today. No way in hell, and I wouldn't have it any other way than just how it is right now. I am perfectly happy with my life the way it is, and very thankful for the opportunities I've had to taste the psychedelics I have.

Re: Without drugs, would you be a different person?
Once when I was high, I saw "Never Get Busted." I watched it like 4 times that night, taking notes and shit. Now I'm going to school to be a criminal defence attorney. If not for pot, I'd still be working at a factory. That or I would have blown my head off. Factory jobs suck.

Re: Without drugs, would you be a different person?
I would probably have a much better social life, but most girls at my school are dumb as fuck anyway and I can't fucking stand them. Also I would be just another white suburban kid with nothing going for him except college and a 9 to 5 desk job. Through psychedelics I have found a passion for nature and the like so hopefully I can get a job that has to something with nature instead of boring ass numbers and spreadsheets in a fucking office building.

Re: Without drugs, would you be a different person?
I'd probably still be a bad-tempered misanthrope, have totally ruined my relationship through lack of communication, and, in all honesty, probably ended up dead or in jail by now or within the next couple years. I'd probably also still be in exceptional physical health and have quite a bit more cash.
Pot lets me relax and sleep and eat, which is a far cry from sleeping six to eight hours in a four day period and keep running until people start asking me if I'm doing speed. I'd get really wiggy, constantly suffering from delusions and hallucinations, make it to the end of the schoolweek, and pass out for ten hours. I'd go on weird, surreal nighttime jaunts about town, risking ridiculous charges just so I could have a bit of "fun."
Somewhere along the line, I found bud and within a year I was smoking it all the time. I totally forgot I was an insomniac who had to force himself to eat. I started up the psychedelics, and my world view has changed so much I cannot even relate to the angry little guy I was. I know it was me, and I really don't regret any of it, but goddamn have I changed...

Re: Without drugs, would you be a different person?
Well, when I started smoking weed late in public school, all the 'popular' kids I hung out with seemed to abandon me. They felt that ANY drugs was completely wrong and discusting. So, naturally I grew up with the older crowd, which as you can imagine, had a HUGE effect on how I grew up.
I like who I am today, and before doing drugs, I was trying to fit in and be somebody I'm not. Now I can express myself in ways I wouldn't dare of before. It feels nice having freedom like that.

Re: Without drugs, would you be a different person?
I would probably be a weight junkie and run all the time. People don't understand that our body naturally gets us high as "rewards". Without the shortcut of drugs, I would probably just work really really hard to just take advantage of motivational rewards.
For those that think they're lame because the popular kids don't do drugs. Well, right now, they aren't at the stage where drugs are cool. In a few years, you're going to be amazed at how everyone you knew that didn't do drugs now do different drugs. Tell them whats up and spread the word. Just be chill and nice and they will conform to you.

Yup, tons of kids in my school were completely against drugs, thought they were dirty and this or that. Now, they all do drugs and think they're so fucking cool. I mean, I could care less, but when you just start smoking pot and think you're some kind of drug master, or hippie, or something special, that's just fuckin stupid. Now everyone listens to Bob Marley and Pink Floyd, and thinks Brain Damage is called Dark Side of the Moon, haha.
But anyways, I definitely would be a much different person had I not done drugs. I mean, things like opiates and coke, they're not really constructive (for me at least), however, things like acid and weed really helped me see everything in a different way. I used to be pissed all the time, and listen to one style of music, and all of that. Then I started smoking weed, became more relaxed, started enjoying things like nature and everything. Then things changed a lot when I had an insane trip with a buddy of mine, that was probably one of the biggest events in my life. My ideas are more expanded, I mean, I've always been able to comprehend stuff, but after that I started "thinking outside of the box", haha. I appreciate nature, colors, the little things that no one thinks about. I also learned to enjoy new types of music and expand pretty much every aspect of my life, and I believe that at this point I'm a "better" person just simply because I'm more chill now, and aware of a lot more things.
However, the bad side. Before I started doing drugs, I skated, every single day of my life for hours, and was basically just more active. When I really started smoking weed a lot, usually everyday, I didn't skate as much (going out to "skate" was my way of being able to go out and toke, haha). I ended up getting caught eventually, can't hang out with a lot of people I used to chill with.
I'm not saying drugs are bad, and I'm also not saying that I regret doing drugs. Everything that's happened, I can't go back now and change it. I've experienced drugs, I like 'em, I do 'em. I just don't spend all my time getting fucked up(though it is fun to do every once in a while), and I also do other shit like play guitar, and I started skating more. My mom loved to say when she found out I was smoking weed, that I wasn't the same person I used to be. But that's total shit. Living is evolving, everything changes, I am and always will be who I am, and there is no getting around it, you just have to choose how you grow.

Re: Without drugs, would you be a different person?
I started my drug use kinda late for some users. I had my first toke when I was 17, and because of that I think that I have maintained the shell of who i used to be. I think that drugs in general have showed me what i am on the inside. It's tough to explain, but I feel more connected with myself and what I believe is right, than with what other people think.
I guess you could call me selfish, but I know that I would rather have other people be happy than myself...I don't think thats selfish.
I really can't wait to gain more experience in shrooms and eventually try LSD.

Re: Without drugs, would you be a different person?
I would have a better job, probably a better relationship, definately more money...
BUT thanks to drugs, namely mdma and amp, i have had THE best most enjoyable experiences of my little insignificant life...
Drugs have been the catalyst that have enabled me to have the best nights out, fucked some really nice girls, had some incredible sex i never thought i had in me.
Drugs for me have been both negative and positive in my life.
Because the negatives have outweighed the positives recently, i'm having a break to let my brain recover before i go fucking nuts/take loads of drugs again.

Good point about the developmental aspect(and pretty important too). IMO, personality should develop normally w/o the influence of drugs(about 16-17). That way, later in life, you don't get those depressing thoughts as to whether "my life is based only on drugs".
Going off on an assumption, I would think that one could use drugs and live exactly the same as a "normal person". It's a matter of demographics really. What is a druggie? A stoner? That's a lifestyle, not a person who uses pot. Lifestyles should be matured before drug use.
I mean, when I go to work, people don't automatically think I smoke weed. I wear a collared shirt with nice slacks( lol, law firm). In fact, without actually smoking weed in front of them, I doubt they would ever, ever know what was up. Same as school. The only people that know I do drugs are those I tell.

people think I'm permanently stoned or on acid
true story
but it hasn't really affected my life negatively because I'm still smarter than most of them

I would either be still at school and spending all my free time playing the computer or be an alcoholic.
Drugs have caused me a fair bit of shit but i doubt it'd be any better without.
And no alcohol is not a drug, it's a food group.

Re: Without drugs, would you be a different person?
I'd be an angry little shithead.
I used to be really out of control pissed off on a dime, and I'd get stressed about everything.
Now I still get stressed but you know.
I'd think more like a normal person, but I'd do worse in school, because my motivation now is simply not to give my mom any reason to worry about me smoking out....
Granted, I'd remember alot more shit, but that's about it.
