We picked a couple leaves off of my plants and rolled them into joints, which smoked very well, especially due to me having dank buds.

It's worth it, especially in my situation where it is my own plant. It was proof to me that nature takes care of you.

Next time take an undried leaf and undried bud. Mash up the bud really good so it's nice and sticky. Roll it into whatever size and shape you want, and then roll the leaf or leaves around it. Make sure it sticks and dry them together. Much better smoke.

EDIT: If I were to try the thing fat thighs described I'd probably use more than one leaf and make it extra thick cause when it's dry it'll probably become fragile, especially if dried too much by accident.

^ heat a fresh leaf from the bottom of the leaf with a lighter, it will form an oil that can help you seal the joint together.

i'm surprised you found it smooth, but i had dried the leaf prior...

Try using indica leaves, they're wider and would allow for bigger joints. Heating the leaf could work but you could just as well use a little honey. I wish I had the resources to try this, but I don't know any growers. :(

I have indeed done this. It didn't get me very high at all(really really sleepy, but not high) and it didnt burn well, and it was harsh. Quite the opposite of your experience.

You are better off Vaporising it, or orally ingesting it after extracting the THC into butter using boiling water.

Yes I've done it, though it's not easy to do correctly. You gotta learn a bit about curing leaves in the way that cigar makers do in order to keep the leaf from dying and becoming fragile, like you said. They cannot be dried quickly, like in an oven. You have to dry them naturally indoors, and to do it the right way can take up to a month. The room they're being dried in should be humid and warm.

Let me just share the technique my friend used:

1. Use quality bud that is very sticky. It doesn't work well if it doesn't have many crystals or doesn't feel sticky.
2. Use the biggest leaves on the plant. 3 leaves per cigar is what he used, though it depends on size.
3. Grind up the bud using a small grinder. Don't over-work it or it will lose stickiness.
4. Get a thin string and tie a knot at one end. The string is used to hang cigars in the window for drying.
5. Hold the string tight on both ends, and form your bud around it in a thin football shape. If it's not sticking, squeeze the plants a little bit and get them a little wet if necessary. Remember that this technique is for undried, raw bud. Not bud you buy from dealers. Straight off the plant.
6. Once the bud is formed around the string in the shape you want, wrap your leaves around it. Also get them a little sticky by squeezing them and applying water if necessary. How you wrap the leaves depends on personal preference. I think it looks coolest if you put them directly along the cigar, but that is very hard to keep on during the drying process. So do it like you'd normally see a cigar wrapped for easiest results.
7. Find a nice, private window that gets sunlight (best if done during the summer), and hang your fresh cigar so that it rests on the knot. Make the knot big or put something like a washer on the string so the cigar doesn't fall. Again, the room should be humid. If you're serious about it, like you want to sell them, get a humidifier.
8. It will hang here for 2-4 weeks. Spray the cigar lightly with water every few days to keep the wrap moist. You're drying it, but you also want the leaves to die slowly, so it needs moisture or oil. We've never used oil or honey, but some cigar makers do, so you might want to try it. If the room is humid enough, you might not need to spray them, but you'll learn through experience.
9. If you took good care of it and kept it in sunlight, it should be dry after a few weeks! Slide the string out carefully, and enjoy a professionally made ganja cigar. Do a bunch of them at once and share them with all your friends. It's something they'll never forget.
