Quick question about dilaudid injection in the ER
So I went to the ER this morning over some real bad pain. Pretty much worst pain of my life.
Anyways they decide to give me a dilaudid shot which helped the pain a little but wasn't enough so they gave me another shot.
This was my first time having any drug IV but I've done dilaudid in the past. The thing was, after the initial rush there was some pain relief and what the nurse called your body being fuzzy (pretty much a weird ass body high with pins and needles throughout my arms and shit) but there wasn't a real high. I was definitely sedated but I had also been up 22+ hours. After the second shot I was more sedated and had more of the body high thing and perfect pain management but still, no real high like when I used it in the past nasally.
Now my questions are, is there a set amount of mgs they use for a shot or is it dependent on the situation?
My other question is, why was there no high? I heard before dilaudid is all rush and no high but I always got a nod from dilaudid before. Is it maybe because they diluted it with saline or something like that or is it that I had been on adderall the day before or is just how that always is with IV dilaudid?
Not like it was a big deal not getting high from the shots, it helped my pain and when they gave me a couple vicodins later on I actually caught a buzz (have never gotten a buzz from 10mg of vicodin even when I was new to opiates).

Maybe because you were up for 22+ hours and did adderall the day before your brain had no more pleasure chemicals to give away.

Re: Quick question about dilaudid injection in the ER
Standard Dilaudid IV dose in a hospital is 2 mg/injection for nontolerant patients.
You might've caught the buzz from the Vicodin later b/c it piggybacked off the Dilaudid they gave you earlier, they did give you 2 shots.
