This is stupid. I paid for my lunch in eighth grade in only pennies, and when the lady asked if it was exact I said I didn't know and dropped a handful on the ground because I'm a dick.
Just because it's legal tender doesn't mean they have to accept it.

tried it once on a bet, i would not suggest it. it tastes much worse than you would think, and the texture almost makes you gag.

I would have been more of a dick and told them that the copper in the penny is technically 1.2 cents now, so consider the left over as a tip.
