Default Poppy Tea - Anonymous Poppies

Do any of the other commonly encountered species of poppy contain poisonous alkaloids that might make you sick if you made tea with them?

On top of that how exactly do you identify opium poppies. I've seen pictures of opium poppies on the internet and the pods look nearly identical to some of the poppies I've seen growing wild.

Only Papaver Somniferum poppies contain the decent alkaloids in a worth while quantity.

As for ID'ing them, ask in the plant forum.

I know its only somniferums that have opium but I'm wondering if other species contain poisonous alkaloids.

No wait they definitely were opium poppies. At first I thought it might be a placebo effect kicking in but theres no doubt its that I'm feeling opiates.

There are a number of poppies that have good alkaloids in them, but the morphine content in all of them is low, with the levels of other alkaloids varying quite a bit.

You know, you should ask these kind of questions BEFORE you ingest the shit.

Don't ever pick mushrooms.
