Anyone remember this game? My friend got it a few months after it came out and I played it at his house for a while on the free 14-day trial it came with. He stopped playing because PlayNC wouldn't transfer his 14 day trial account over to his time card. I totally would've bought it if I had hi-speed internet. (I still have dial-up, isn't that sad?) Anyway, after some quick Google searching, I discovered that Auto Assault was shut down on August 31, 2007! I was pretty pissed from discovering this, because I should be getting hi-speed soon, and was looking forward to finally playing that. I don't want to play WoW, but I do want to find a sweet MMO to play.

If anyone can help me find a sweet MMO to play when I get the chance, that would be cool. Any info on Auto Assault free servers or awesome free MMOs that are out or are coming out would be cool too.

EVE Online seemed pretty sweet, is it worth paying for? I don't know all that much about it really.

Auto Assault was shit. I got the trial for it and was extremely disappointed, I'm not surprised it went under.

EVE however seems awesome...although when I got the trial for it I was extremely overwhelmed, I guess you just get used to it. Huge learning curve.

You really thought it was shit huh? I liked it, but then I never actually owned it. I thought the whole crafting thing was pretty cool, and I liked the overall theme a lot more than all these annoying fantasy and WoW clones. I'm not into the fantasy games so much.

Learning curve doesn't bother me that much, but when I get high speed I would love to play a nice MMO that's not WoW or a WoW clone.

I know what your saying. I'm getting horribly tired of WoW. I want a new fresh MMO that actually delivers what it says it's going to.

It's coolest feature is procedural weapon generation. They said there's going to be about 500 million different types of weapons, which means your loot will truly be unique and you'll probably never find anyone with the same weapon as you. I believe the armor is going to be procedurally generated as well, so no two people will look alike either. Plus the combat is a hybrid FPS-RPG type thing, so it's like Auto Assault in the sense that it's not your standard MMO click click borefest.

And I understand what you mean about not getting into the fantasy bullshit. I've never cared for orcs, elves, dragons, or any of that other nonsense. I prefer Sc-Fi or Post-apocalyptic settings myself if game makers insist on sticking to proven archetypes.
