Default regrowing the buds on a plant

hypothetically speaking, if i get a good female plant that is healthy enough, could i keep it inside and continuously regrow the bud on top of the plant?

i was thinking of doing this in college/home with good bud. growing the plant in a mason jar or something small, and keeping the plant somewhat small, and just cutting off the buds every few weeks/months.

serious tread btw.

You can't do that.
A stem is needed to clone, not the bud.
Badsically, get stem, stick in a tub, grow

uh i dont think you get it, im not cloning. say, i have a fully grown plant, i cut said bud. if i wait, will the bud grow back?

yes. what you do is harvest all the flowers, put the plant under a veg cycle again, then after a few weeks of veg growth, switch the light back to a flowering cycle.

you need to keep some of the fan leaves on the plant when doing this, or it will die.

and also, ask google, and ye shall find...

thanks. so hypothetically, i could have a constant supply of bud year-round, if done right?

EDIT: 2 times, nevermind.

for any botonists/experts on growing pot: could a plant (fully mature with buds) last from say, oct to march on this scheme?

you need to harvest the buds when theyre mature...if you leave fan leaves on the fully grown, budless plant, (after harvest), you can pretty much do it indefinitely...although ive found that some folks might get bored with the same strain after so long. read the link i posted...it pretty much answers all your questions.

Yes its possible, the quality will get worse and worse after each progressive cycle of 24/0 lighting to 12/12

But not in a mason jar, marijuana needs ventilation to grow, also where would the soil drain into?

experience tells me that the degradation in potency is so minute that it isnt even noticable.
youre absolutely correct about the mason jar...i must have missed that part.

Yeah I don't think a jar will work. And good luck revegetating, it's not like the plants will magically go back into vegetative when you put the light back at vegetatve cycle. They'll still try to produce bud for a while. You'll notice some interesting things. I don't think it's worth it if you're keeping it small. There was a guy on some forum that used like a 1 liter bottle with worm shit and stuff and got amazing yields.

Keep light off the roots too, if the container is clear wrap it with foil or something.

Yeah I dunno where he got that from. I don't think it's going to lose potency. I mean, when have you actually used a gas chromatograph and actually confirmed that it lost potency? I think the potency loss would be all in your head. I don't think it really loses potency from reharvesting.

It'd be much easier just to regrow a new plant using a cutting from your current plant.

Or even to start over.

the only reason i mentioned degradation is because i read it somewhere...from experience, ive never noticed it...however, the person that wrote the book i read that in was ed rosenthal, a world famous grower of cannabis, so he very well could have used a gas chromatograph...but like i said, ive never noticed any decrease in potency.

actually, when you cut the lights back to a veg cycle, they do "magically" go back into a vegetative state...its nature man, and also, no they wont continue to produce bud while in a veg cycle...flowering requires a dark cycle at least half that of the veg cycle.

I liked what he had to say about terpenes. Other than that I haven't read much of his writing.

I've never seen a plant go back into vegetative immediately, but that could've just been a coincidence cause all the guys on the forums had plants which would not go immediately back and kept trying to produce bud for a while. Similar to why they don't clone during flowering cycle.

FLOWERING REQUIRES A DARK CYCLE AT LEAST HALF THAT OF THE VEG CYCLE.

Have you ever heard of the concept of revegging a plant? Because people do it all the time. Nothing magical about it when you cut the buds and change the light cycle back to vegetation hours it WILL go back into veg. You can only reflower a plant like 2 times I believe.

You are right that a jar is not sufficient to hold the plant. Most grow them in 5 GALLON buckets. A little pint or quart jar is not going to work. You need atleast a 1-2 gallon pot for it.

I'm not saying it doesn't, I'm not even talking about the flowering time or vegetative time. It could be 18 hours vegetative or 24, 12 hours flower or 13, doesn't make any difference. I really do not think any plant is going to immediately go back into vegetative cycle. I think all strains, or most at least, will keep trying to produce flowers after you've picked them off and put the plants back into vegetative cycle, for oh I dunno, weeks maybe.

I wouldn't be able to get a link since it was years ago that I read it. Maybe you should try it yourself so you can know for sure.

I think you missed the part where I said "They'll still try to produce bud for a while". If you didn't have the the attention span of an adhd mental patient, you would've noticed I do fully understand the concept of revegetating, I just don't think it'll happen immediately. You would probably agree with me if you had done more than just read a few things on the internet.

after harvest, a budless plant with sun leaves, ceases flowering, and goes back into a veg stage. i can say this because ive done it. i think youre taking the word immediately too literally...it may halt growing for a day or so before vegging again, but im certain that it does not continue to produce buds under a vegetation light cycle. Im not going to look for a link to prove myself otherwise, because i do know for sure....we can still get that ice cream if you want. :D

See, I think it will try to produce buds during the beginning a vegetative light cycle after harvesting, but not for long. Long enough to make it annoying. But it probably does depend on the strain. The closer it is to 24 hours of light in the vegetative cycle, the easier it'll be but I still don't think it'll immediately stop trying to produce bud.

and maybe it has something to do with how vigorous the strain is. It's important to remove all the flowers even when the light cycle is back to 24 hours, because it will keep trying to grow its flowers, especially if you leave any flowers on it, or pieces of flowers. I'm saying this because I have learned that certain ways of revegetating that people have mentioned just suck balls compared to others. I think what works best is leaving only two branches. But I think the more vigorous plants will still try to produce flowers for the first week or two of revegetating.

There are other containers, that are plastic, that would be better than a jar. Depends on what method you're using but if you're using soil you probably need holes in the bottom to drain out excess water. It can be done without holes in the bottom but that's just more trouble than it's worth.

IMO, the only reason for anyone to use anything except a 24 hour veg cycle would be to keep plants a bit smaller...and with that said, buds require a dark period of at least 50% of the light cycle...and with that said, plants will not continue to flower while under a 24 vegetative cycle. & like I said, the plants growth will halt for a day or 2, but it will not continue to flower under a veg cycle.

We can't agree. I also don't think the growth will necessarily halt at all. Often it will but with some plants it will not.

no hard feelings. & by halt, i mean adjust to the change....a bit of a shock, if you will. im not sure if you have first hand experience with any of this, but you do have some knowledge...however, Im speaking from experience...not something I read on a forum. Ive regenerated several different strains...sativas, indicas, 50/50s, grown hydroponically, organically, SOG, SCROG, you name it, ive tested it.

i do agree that you should leave 2 branches on a plant when regenerating....why would anyone leave buds on it?...no point in it.
