borrowing catalytic converters
so, say you wanted to borrow someones catalytic converter....i know a sawzall would work...but thats a metricshit ton of noise....hack saw, but that might take a few years...i was wondering if a strong hedge trimmer or bolt cutter would be able to do the job of removing a cat converter?

Re: borrowing catalytic converters
If you are borrowing it, just ask and the owner will help.
This is &totse, leave your fucking morals at the door. Just say you were stealing it.

Find the bolt size and remove while under the car. It isn't complicated.

Re: borrowing catalytic converters
around here the normal tools to use are size 14 and 17 sockets wrench things...and no one around here has a problem with sawzalls...i mean if the size is other than 14 or 17 the catalyctic converter aint worth much... the size 14 and 17 are for cars thats cv is worth it....

Re: borrowing catalytic converters
You know the "platnium" in them isn't worth shit right? And you can't extract it...

Re: borrowing catalytic converters
If you're planning on making any decent money worth your time then you'll need to get a fair few.
The plat in them is only worth about £15-20 each one.
14 mill is the one you'll often need and the most common.
Just check out the other thread:

Re: borrowing catalytic converters
Yeah good luck taking off the bolts with a socket. Chances are they're rusted on there so bad that it'll take an impact wrench to get them off.
For the sake of time its not worth worrying about the bolts, because you'd have take them off, which would take time, then you have to pull the cat out of the pipe, which requires leverage, which you don't have when laying on the ground underneath a car / truck. Just cut the fucker off if you're not in a residential place, if you are, then you're retarded. It'll take 2-3 minutes per cat as opposed to 5 minutes of spraying wd-40 on it, then taking off the bolts, then another 10 minutes of trying to pull it out from the pipe.
And who said that cats aren't worth anything if they're not bolted in there? Are you stupid? What proof do you have of that? There isn't any.
If you're planning on stealing cats, the prices range from 50 bucks (ford) to 200 dollars (large toyota ones, 4runner, Tundra, etc) a cat.
Acid_Drop: There's not just platinum in them, and you sell them to scrap yards, not extract it yourself.
