Reinventing Himself- Confidence
Mods if this is in the wrong area i'am sorry please move it thanks.
Hey guys, see my friend Ryan has a big ego problem, he doesn't have one..
Hes always putting himself down and setting the bar higher and higher for his expectations, At first I thought he was just humble but i guess this is an issue with him.
Him and I are into martial arts, hes an amazing fighter for his age and rank division everyone tells him so but he insists even if he takes first that he did bad, or could have done alot better.
Hes got a great sense of humor once you get to know him as well, that is when and if you finally get to know him. Hes really shy around people he doesn't know, but is so outgoing around people he knows.
He even admits that hes a "pussy" and has no self confidence. He would love to change his ways but just can't bring himself to it, he doesn't know how.
So i'am asking if theres anything i can do, and he is more then willing himself to go along with it. Any type of book, or mental training.
Thanks

Quit spamming that link. It's not social skills the guy's looking for anyway.
I recommend Eckhart Tolle. Download 'the power of now' and 'a new earth' and listen to them all through. They come as a book, or audio book.
If you listen to him with an open mind instead of a 'this is hippy shit' kind of mentality, it's amazingly effective. He teaches you how to stop worrying and being anxious about everything, and uncloud your mind.
Also, try affirmations.

This RYan kid was exactly how I felt about myself for years. I kept thinking I wasnt good enough, not funny, fit, etc. The only thing that separates me from him NOW is that I enjoy meeting new people, and they enjoy meeting me. He isnt open around people he doesnt know, and therefore people arent open around him (generally speaking of course)
The best way around an issue is directly through it.
