Walkie-Talkies While Commiting Crime
SWIM and his friend use walkie-talkies for communication while running 'missions' at night. They are wondering if this is a good idea, and if police would be able to hear what they are saying. Although SWIM thinks they would only scan or w.e if they knew walkie-talkies were being used while committing the crimes. Any knowledge in this area to be shared?

Re: Walkie-Talkies While Commiting Crime
anybody with a walkie talkie within your area(certain distance) can listen in to your conversation....you can scan the channels for activity then listen to it...same way some use police scanners during commision of crimes to know when there on there way.... the opposite way... but it also depends, wat kind of walkie talkies are they?

Alright, good. Cause SLIM doesn't want any of his plans or findings revealed to the cops.

Re: Walkie-Talkies While Commiting Crime
lol, I never thought you would have caught that.
They are high end "Cobra" walkie talkies.
Also, I highly doubt random people will be scanning through frequencies on their walkie talkies searching for activity at 3am. lol

Me too. Once I heard 2 guys who were drag racing on a nearby street and talking on some sort of walkie-talkie or mobile device. They were having a good time until one of them chimed in and said, "Shit the cops are on my fucking ass." You could hear the sirens in the background. It was funny as fuck.
So to the OP, a great big fucking NO on that.

Re: Walkie-Talkies While Commiting Crime
lol i listen to my scanner at like 3 sometimes.
i dont really listen to random people talking though just police.
but make up code names so people will just be like wtf?
and make street names coded.
for example:
maple road
dont said yeah yo im on maple road
be like im on syrup.
idk if you get that one. "maple syrup"
be creative to be stealthy.

They use standard frequencies. Anyone can hear when you're saying unless it's encrypted and channel shifting. Don't use your cell phone as it can be tracked. Even while off.

Re: Walkie-Talkies While Commiting Crime
Could just use bluetooth but I'm guessing it'd be easier for others to eavesdrop on.

Re: Walkie-Talkies While Commiting Crime
One way chirp on nextel phones works fine, no one listens to that and I believe thats how most narcs communicate now because everyone literally can hear whats on the radio waves. Chirps may be able to be listened in on, but not by an average person, i'm sure they're at least on the same high frequency as cell phone calls. And whoever said don't bring a friend is right, go solo, then only your big mouth will get you in trouble.

Yeah chirping is nearly as secure as a phone conversation. Local narcotics officers and dope dealers here both love they nextels. The street dealers chirp they buddy inside a house to drop a sack out the window when they serve a customer. That way they don't have anything on them. The cops like them because they can talk about shady things without having to worry about some jerk with a scanner hearing/recording the conversation.

They're not high end, just cheap family radio service (FRS) or CB radios. All the different brands use the same channels/frequencies. One could easily scan through all the FRS/CB/GMRS frequencies 24/7 and record all the conversations. I doubt anyone would bother to though, usually all you hear on FRS is boring conversations and kids screwing around. I do the same thing with local police narc frequencies. Cop cars these days don't even have CB channel 9 radios anymore, they defenitely wouldn't listen to FRS.
