Games People Play Games People Play is where to discuss personal computer, video game console, and arcade hardware and software - be it RPG, Sim, Strategy, Fighting, Action/Platform, or any other category. Although discussion of modern platforms/software will most likely dominate, discussion of classic videogame/computer hardware and software is always enjoyable, and certainly welcome - ESPECIALLY since there are public domain/shareware emulators of nearly every older computer/console available these days. Here's a taste of what awaits you: Nintendo-vs-Sega-vs-Sony, Console-vs-PC-vs-Mac, Hardware spec sheets/information, Industry news and discussion, Software reviews, IRC conference announcements/Reports, Emulators, Emulators, Emulators! ... and much, much more!

Angry Beggars in MMORPGs.

Isn't this completely retarded? What kind of fool is going to give you his well earned money/gold/gear/whatever just because you ask for it and say please at the end? And if you tell them to piss the fuck off, they get violent and start to spam or flood the chat thingie. You're already paying to play the game. And now instead of doing what you've paid for, you just want to kick back and have other people do it for you? There is something in that logic that is beyond me.

Anyway, I was playing Eve Online the other day and was kicking ass in my pimped out cruiser when I got swarmed by pirates, warp drive jammed and lost my god damn ship. Now I have to mine Scordite in my alt's noobie friggate which is going to take me forever to get enough money to buy that Drake I was going to be saving for. What I'm getting at is if there are any Eve Online toseans here, could you be so kind as to deposit 30mil ISK to my main char so I can buy myself a new battlecruiser? I know, I know. Insure your ships before you go cruisin' for a bruisin' in 0.0 sec space. But hey, shit happens. So, whadda ya say? Help a nigga out? I just need 30mil. It's really not that much.

Cool Re: Beggars in MMORPGs.

in rl i'm always giving spare change to homeless guys on the street. that sort of behavior doesn't seem to cross over when i'm in an mmorpg. i usually tell those bums to fuck off and go get a job...or the rpg equivalent (go find a quest, bum? join a guild, you lazy fuck?). i have considered begging on occasion, but i have yet to stoop that low.

getting money is rly hard work in some games.

i like it sometimes when the beggars are at least creative. like dancing in the streets or telling jokes for money. i think it's kinda kewl when they at least try to entertain you for the money.

if i played eve online, i would totally lend you a few hundred just because i found your post entertaining, snoopy.

...but i don't, so sorry.

I always give away whatever lowbie gear I find. Better than taking up space in my inventory waiting for someone to buy/trade for it.

Lol. This reminds me of when I was a level 14 NE hunter in WoW and I jumped up on to the auction house and got naked and started dancing and yelled for people to tip me and started "talking dirty" to people for money. I was surprised to get around 30 gold.

People gave me money in Eve Online before without me even asking. Some players are very noob friendly. Some players are just dicks though and will screw you just to fuck with you, even if it costs them a ship.

Hit me up at "absolutecaliber" or my dreadnought alt "Absolut Kalibre"

I've paused my playing but I've got tons of SP in combat. Also, billions in isk from doing work for BoB.

I took it slow for a couple months, ran some missions and played other games more. Now I joined Phoenix Tribe to do some pvp. They are awesome guys. We are running around GW ganking ratters and stuff. Curse, Vagabond and Rapier can pretty much take out anything.

Heh, glad I haven't run into you then. Since the alliance got kicked out of the drone regions by Mostly Harmless, I've been ratting in GW for isk from time to time. Total replacement cost on a fully insured typhoon is low enough that I can minimize the game while my drones do their thing and write off the losses when I do get ganked.

It was kinda sad near the end when the corp left; they were all holed up in a dead end lowsec system, flying drakes, losing an empire war with a solo nano ishtar pilot.

Well at first we were in Placid, only come back like last week.
Pretty odd way to rat btw. Why not just fit a cloak for when you want to afk?

RULE were pretty shitty alright. I knew they wouldn't last when they completely bent over and took it from MM.

You read about the proposed nano nerfs? They better not go through like that.

Because this way I can be afk WHILE I rat, checking back every two minutes or so to lock/activate weapons or warp. Anything else is mind numbingly boring. I fit a cloak too just in case. When someone figures out that I'm an easy kill and keeps coming back I just do other stuff for a week.

The nerf is definitely going to suck for nanoships and anything that uses blasters (web nerf). Basically a buff for Amarr and Caldari. Frigate class ships too though; orbiting at 500 with an afterburner is suddenly going to be viable if webs lose effectiveness. Cruiser size guns have huge problems hitting non-mwding frigates with any transversal.
