I just got off probation and want several weapons for self and home defense. I want a shotgun and a revolver, and some other guns. I am new to guns. I'm thinking a .38 caliber revolver, a 12 gauge shotgun and a TEC-9 would be good. What suggestions do you have for a good home defense weapon.

Forget the TEC9. They're worthless. Go for the .38 and 12 gauge. My suggestion is Ruger's SP101 and a Mossberg 500 or 590.

Are they gonna let you get guns after you get off probation? More importantly, will you pass background checks?

Personally right now I'm using an AR15 with a piston upper in 5.56mm, and a Ruger GP100.

Tec-9's are garbage, their made like shit, way too heavy, awkward to hold, and when I shot one a while back it jammed 8 times out of about 100 rounds using a 32 round magazine. As for shotguns like FTC said go with a Mossberg their some of the most reliable shotguns out there and you wont be disappointed.

Why not use a Boys Anti-Tank Rifle?

Sure... might be a bit hard to get a hold of, but at least you can anihilate anyone breaking in plus the wall behind them.

Nothing says home defense more than a 12 guage shotgun. Its a proven fact the sound of a shotgun being cocked is the most recognized in the world, and will surely strike fear into anyone. Like most people say a mossberg, thats what i have or a benelli if you have the money

I keep my .45 in my nightstand next to my bed, so that and my Maglite would be the first thing I'd grab, though I would switch to my 12 gauge if given the chance.
