| Games People Play Games People Play is where to discuss personal computer, video game console, and arcade hardware and software - be it RPG, Sim, Strategy, Fighting, Action/Platform, or any other category. Although discussion of modern platforms/software will most likely dominate, discussion of classic videogame/computer hardware and software is always enjoyable, and certainly welcome - ESPECIALLY since there are public domain/shareware emulators of nearly every older computer/console available these days. Here's a taste of what awaits you: Nintendo-vs-Sega-vs-Sony, Console-vs-PC-vs-Mac, Hardware spec sheets/information, Industry news and discussion, Software reviews, IRC conference announcements/Reports, Emulators, Emulators, Emulators! ... and much, much more! |

Deadly Creatures
Seems noones mentioned this interesting looking wii-exclusive game yet: Deadly Creatures. Between this, Sadness and MadWorld, is there anyone who still seriously calls the wii kiddy?

Re: Deadly Creatures
To be honest, I highly doubt I will be playing that. Are they even working on Sadness anymore? I hope so. Also there is that one shooter coming out (forget the name of it and too tired to look it up). Manhunt 2 was an amazing game on the Wii, the relevence of mentioning it is that Wendy's was promoting the Wii when it was announced and they dropped the deal stating "Dave Thomas would not want his brand promoting something as violent as Manhunt."

Re: Deadly Creatures
from what I remember seeing of it in the past, Deadly Creatures hardly excited me. it seemed like a bit of a Tim Burton meets Tim Schaffer inspired monster creator, with little hope.
Sadness is my most anticipated Wii title. if not one of my most anticipated titles, over-all. definatly looking forward to it; and yes, currently it's more confirmed than ever, with a release date of Fall 2009.
Mad World...havn't heard of that until now. I just did a little research, and hell yeah...it's by Platinum Games. if I remember right, Platinum Games is the new Clover Studios (Okami, Viewtifull Joe). that should be rule.
note: I also looked up Deadly Creatures, and it seems I'm thinking of the wrong game...though I am familiar with this one as well -- it seems alright. the game I was thinking of was "Monster Lab".

Re: Deadly Creatures
I'm cautiously optimistic for Deadly Creatures, and MadWorld looks fucking tits.
Here's hoping Sadness actually materalizes, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Re: Deadly Creatures
I've been watching this, I think it will be mediocre, but enjoyable.

Between three games that haven't been released yet, one of which will likely never see the light of day? Yeah, I seriously call the Wii "kiddy".

Re: Deadly Creatures
Resident evil 4 port to Wii, No More Heroes, Metroid Prime 3. All not kiddy titles, and those are just the ones that I own. I wanted to include brawl, but then I remembered that I enjoy pooping people.

Re: Deadly Creatures
yeah, seriously. I can see how people are deeming the wii a childish demographic, but that's at a short peak. the areas where it does (or will) hit the mature audience, hit pretty hard. the wii does have it's potential; and not all of it involves manically swinging your arms.

Re: Deadly Creatures
Even if the Wii can muster a handful of adult titles, the following things will always be true:
A) There will still be more, and therefore statistically speaking, more better adult games on the 360 and PS3 and
B) There will likely always be a 10:1 ratio of Petz-style shovelware to quality adult titles on the Wii.
Speaking as someone with all three consoels...if I had to choose one that I could live without, it would be my Wii.

Re: Deadly Creatures
perhaps that's the exact reason Nintendo is sticking to what it's been doing. making games for basically everyone except cocky college kids (no offense if you're a student, Gonzo; I'm not refering to you). it's safe to say that's the primary demographic of both the 360 and the PS3 (the later of which I own -- so I'm not being biased). never-the-less, 14 - 35 year olds. M or not. while the Wii is hitting every (other) demographic (E - M - allegedly even A one of these days...haha, wow; the possibility of that).
so the wii is basically touching every ground, succesfully. and don't even bring life into this. I can live without my Wii, as well. but I choose not to. it'll get some great shit soon enough. hell, the gamecube hardly had 'anything' either, until RE4. alot of people sure felt left out then, huh?
