yeah this really needed a thread.

The thread was about movie rating sites in general and how its possible for a superhero action movie to top a movie like 12 angrymen or seven samurai or even to take a somewhat compareable movie like City of God/fightclub(meaning actionpacked) with that much.

Perhaps the lack of appriciation of movie art aswell. I thought people could grasp this concept for themselves.

Although i dont really know if im entitled to bitch about this, as i havent seen the movie yet. Maybe its geniunaly amazing.

I noticed this a few days ago. while I can't entirely agree with it, I can't argue against it either. it really is a great film, and not just as a comic book adaption.

but keep in mind that IMDB is user-based. these are user ratings. most people are probably rating it as a comic-based movie. not as an over-all film. but again, while I'd say it is deserving, I can't either agree, or entirely disagree with it's current status.

i can understand why the dark knight would temporarily be ranked number one but did anyone notice that WALL.E was number 25?

Godfather was up there forever

I don't know how temporary it's going to be considering it's up to 115,000 votes and it's still maintaining a 9.4 average, .3 points ahead of The Godfather. It may drop, but even then it's still going to remain in the top ten, and more likely in the top five.

Frankly, I'm quite pleased with it's position. It's a great movie, and while I'd hesitate to call it the best movie of all time, I enjoyed it a lot more than I enjoyed The Godfather which I've always found to be severely overrated.

Look at where Schindlers List is and tell me that's a rank of movies. Schindlers list is a waffling pile of bathos, that all the "progressive" folk piss themselves over.

As for the Dark Knight, I call viral marketing.
